Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh.... uuuuuuhhhhhh..... uuuummmm... no.

It would be cool to expand the explorable pre-war area at the beginning of the game, maybe have a quest or two before the bombs fall.
I keep thinking that too. In reality.. it'll seem really weird if right after the vault tech guy arrives at the door and you register for the vault.. you had to run directly to the vault because the bombs are falling. Seems likely that there will be something to do in between that time. Go to the store and get some groceries.. chat with the neighbors, maybe go to work? It'd just be a bit too convenient and feel like kind of a let down if there's nothing there.
I thought that we all kinda silently agreed that pre-war mods were in order, and it didn't need to be said.... But I'm wrong alot of the time so, yes there is alot of potential in prewar mods.
Throwing my own ideas in the hat....
(I kinda want it to be all 50's American Dream type stuff, with some Real human grit thrown in. Think, A Blast From the Past meets The Departed)
Basically I just want quests that allow me to develop my character and define who he or she was before the war, and to see some of the actions I have done carry over to post-war Fallout. Even some minuscule ones.
Ya know I'd play that. Mabe throw in a bit of Pulp Fiction esq choices as well.
Sadly this would require a lot of work and voice acting and a bunch of new in game objects.... some of which will come with the inevitable cleaned up settlement materials mods..... Hmmmm I'd say mods like this are more likely than another moon landing in my lifetime.
Yea, it would likely take a conglomerate of smaller mods pieced together for a seamless play-through, so figure a year or two after the release of the GECK.
That and there is no defined storyline at this point, for it to be any good at all you would need to nail that and connectivity of apparent small unrelated quests.
But its not out of the question, and finding voice actors isn't as hard as it usta be for mods. Sadly the whole thing sounds very time consuming so I wouldn't be much help for anything besides dialogue and story, I could do a little voice acting, but my mic is crap.
pulp fiction esq choices for sure.
Anything related to "balancing" the game. Like economy, armor/weapon, loot, perks, etc. And for those who are into graphics, the classic HD texture pack is going to be a "must have". ^^
Any idea on how to overcome the problem of forcing people to start a new save file to use a pre-war mod?
I was thinking about some melee weapon mods. like a set of swords. or something.
If I buy it... (which would be after the GECK is released, and not before), then the first mod I will look for is a disabler for Steam achievements, and next a camera hack if needed (depending on how close the third person perspective is locked).
After that I'll look for (or investigate the making of) a mod that perhaps uses the new/enhanced cursor awareness to implement a point & click UI, and an auto-target AI script that allows the player to click on an enemy and have the PC attack them based on their skills and stats. We'll go from there with what additional mods might be possible to implement as gameplay fixes.
I wouldnt mind a kinda flashback DLC in which you play through a conflict in which the PC was involved. BUT, this would be assuming both the male and female fought in the same battle and assuming the female was in the war at all. Plus, people would just see it bethesda having no new ideas as they have already done anchorage.
Asfor a prewar mod, you would have to re-texture EVERYTHING. So.... ummm.. goodluck to anyone that does it?
What new/enhanced cursor awareness do you speak of?
I thought it would be interesting if the LS was, before the bombs fell, a secret agent that is tasked with finding and stopping a Chinese plot before coming home. The nature of the plot is mysterious and ultimately, the character fails to stop the Chinese agent. He (she) also has that pesky speech to prepare for (support hubby by showing up for) so he (she) returns home to regroup. That's when the bombs start falling and the character has to rush out to the shelter. The only two problems I foresee is the lack of motorized transportation to get the character around and fitting it in after the character gen.
Such a mission could also be told in flashbacks via the Memory Den (assuming it is what the name implies). That would obviate the need to splice it into the existing opening narrative. The actual mission could cut between the active sequences, removing the need to have a car. I mean a car chase would be awesome, but probably a challenge to do with both the technical and scale aspects to contend with.
The plot twist comes when we find out the Chinese agent is a ghoul that is still alive.
The issue I see with this is software licensing, DOOM is not a free to play game so recreating it, or importing it might cause legal issues, Yes Bethesda owns the ip, but they are still making money off it. The only way it would be legal is if the down loaders of the mod already bought the game and have rights to access the game, and as far as I know there is no way to check if they do The only other way is to get Bethesda to approve the mod before release (in writing) and I guess if you did a complete remake using all new assist it might be okay. (As long as you wernt turning a profit from it. since the own the ip)
I meant plot points, so you wouldn't need to start a new game. And like I said I figure it would take a combination of other mods integrated into one. Though I would like an extensive quest line with new assets. I dont see it happening (at least for a while), but an expanded Pre-War universe will happen
Just a Pre-War skin? That's kinda cynical, I think the modding community deserves more credit then that. At least a few more object items too. And at least one quest.
A fixed (semi-dynamic) 3rd person overhead too?
Possibly vats expanded where you can see all enemy highlighted at once.
Groin shots. (which sadly I don't remember ever seeing a mod for)
It just seemed like somethings you might like.
Could we have a SkyUI like mod for the pipboy in fallout4? . . .
Don't know yet ~really. But the preview clips show the PC hovering the mouse over distant world objects (with pop-up labels); presumably you click on them to get the dog to fetch them? In any case, if it's a feature, then it might be useful for something unintended.
