Fallout Movie should they do it?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:51 am

I just watched "The Book of Eli" A.K.A "Fallout the Movie" But seriously its a great movie and very Falloutesq but dose anyone know of plans for a Fallout Movie? And should they even try. "The Book of Eli did a pretty good job. But to actually put the Fallout Brand name on a movie then that movie better live up to that hype. But I think a Fallout T.V. show would be better, have it done in a very serious grim way like Battlestar Galactica was. What do you guys/Gals think?

Book Of Eli is an awful film and has no relations to fallout except the whole post-apocalyptic thingie it got going on, but then Dawn Of The Dead 1978 could also be compared to Fallout I guess.

Anyway, no.
A film is too short to depict a Fallout story, it would feel incredibly rushed and be packed with action, explosions and [censored] and yet again screw the Fallout franchise over.
Rather have a more slower paced TV-Series, 6-12 episodes, one or two seasons.

/opinion.

....They prolly will end up doing it if FO continues much longer. And FO games will.

If they had to do it I would like it to be in the hands of someone capable. And make liberal use of caracter actors like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Wincott (hell he even sounds like a ghoul) and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Trejo. But I am not counting on it. I am counting on a half-assed attempt at some point of time.

i think it could be done. take the main quest, boy leaves vault to seek his father because the overseer went nuts after james left. he wanders into megaton. realizes he needs suppliers so he does some quests around megaton where he teams up with dogmeat. makes his to GNR. does the good deed there and learns more about his father whereabouts. and so on.

i think the movie should also include broken steel.

Knightly XD You should have picked the FO1 storyline, it would make much more sense....and is generally much better overall then FO3 craptastic one. Since it actually is the one to intro the Super mutants and ghouls and such.

If they do one, they should create an entirely unique storyline, rather than copying the games.

This.

And

I'd rather like a Fallout TV-series like Gabriel said, 12 episodes, 2 seasons.

Or it's shorter, takes place in the same area, concerning the main conflict and main factions, but it has one, or few, different main characters each episode. The characters in every episode are different and come from different backgrounds, but they are all shown to deal with the world of Fallout and the main conflict (for an example, think NCR vs CL-situation in New Vegas, but I'd like it original in a TV-series). Characters could be captured in one episode, rescued in another by the new main character, kill a character that was the main character five episodes ago, or team up with a few previously introduced main characters... anyways, thing is that in the end, all loose strings will be tied together, all main characters, that are still alive, will meet somehow and the main conflict in the story would have escalated to some serious degree and there might be some fights and rebellions and all that, and main characters would fight other main characters and, well, you wouldn't be able to tell who would survive the series and not. It would not be like any other series, like in Chuck, Chuck never dies, in Supernatural, the brothers never die, in The Walking Dead, Rick never dies (and I read the series, so I know that he won't for a while). This series would be more like... Harper's Island (which I have not yet seen, but I've heard/read about it) where people die in every episode till the series is over and it's only then that you know who survived.

Google turns up this. J. J. Abrams working on it. Project called "500 RADS" but if he's working with Bethesda it will be called Fallout...500 RADS would be a temporary name.

On February 5th, 2009, Bethesda Softworks, which had bought the rights to the Fallout franchise from Interplay in 2007, applied for the Fallout trademark for “Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program” and for “motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world.”

Uh, how about this: Instead of copying the Fallout 3 storyline, why not start chronologically from the beginning? You know, Fallout 1?

I like an idea of a main storyline of the series, but for every progression of the main story, you get a handleful of additional episodes of the events in the perspective of other people/factions.
Ie: Say the series is centric on the MWBoS, one episode they take out a MLA stronghold, suffering many losses, for an indecisive "victory", the next episode wouldnt be progression past that, but the event of the former in the perspective of the MLA, or perhaps an event that happens while the attack is underway, like, while the MWBoS concentrates on there attack, a squad of Talon Company, obeying a contract put out, makes a move on killing a target in an unaffiliated settlement, meeting suprise resistance from a team of Andriods purchased by the mark for protection.

I think Bethesda did that so some random person couldn't make a Post Apocalyptic movie called "Fallout". People would think it's based on the series when it's not, but they've already paid and that person will get the profits, and because there was no copyright on the name, Bethesda couldn't sue them.

They have to make a Fallout movie! It would be awesome. But if they do it I want it to be its on unique storyline. I don't care if it is using existing factions but make it have a unique storyline.

This. If they're going to make a crappy rendition of Fallout they might as well do it from the start.

I would prefer a new storyline that wasn't taken from the games, as long as it isn't craptastic

Well the Fallout film could be a prequel to Fallout 1....you could informally call it Fallout Zero lol

they'd probably make it 100 years after the present, like 2112 (they might film it in 2012 if they start on it...would be cool if they released it on December 21, 2012). It's far enough after the war but not too far after or it would mesh with the games.

A whole different story, of course I agree. I think having it take place early in the 22nd century would make the political/social climate much different. I don't have any ideas other than the date it should take place in.

I don't know if a Fallout movie would work. The games are very open ended and you can influence the ending. The movie would just be a linear story line.

Any of you seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9UwlAAnlmg? It's really good for a fan film and should certainly fuel your appetite for a full-length Fallout movie.

I like the way you think good sir. I believe that most games would make better TV shows than movies.
