Fallout 4 Needs Snipers

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:23 am

I remember the one mission on Fo3 where there was a sniper in a tower or something. That was one of my favorite missions and I hope to find more snipers in Fo4.

I'm sure there will be NPC's with sniper rifles. There were snipers in NV with the NCR correctional facility and Ft Macaron

Arkansas was a crazy [censored]. All I wanted to do was disable a mine and hangout in the playground for a while so Moira could write her book. Apparently that's grounds for execution for that crotchety old bastard.

Ah yes, I enjoyed that quest as well. Going around carefully disabling mines... *pffft* *pffft* ... What the hell was that? ... Why is that car on fire?!? *BOOM* Good Times!

I also hope for an increased number of snipers in FO4. The more varied the enemies tactics, the better in my opinion.

Worst.Sniper.Ever. He tagged me like once even though I was a sitting duck. Flushed him out with grenades and let him step on his own mines =D

That's you PCs point of view, but maybe he was just protecting his hometown and was a tad unhinged, scared and trigger happy...in either case, I just avoided the cars, got close enough for my own sniper shot and put him out of both of our misery.

I know you could collar him for the Slavers but did anyone ever do this?

There's a hollow rock behind megaton that has a sniper rifle. I grab that first after leaving the vault. Arkansas was easy to hit, even at that low level

I agree. It would add a new element to the game. If there were snipers with super high perception who could see you and shoot before you saw them.. Awesome. Enemies being harder is always a plus for me.

I spent way too much time trying to find a way to talk to Stockholm in Megaton... what was that guy's deal?

I love playing sniper characters so it could be neat to have a sniper duel.

Better hope your target has no friends, lest that brilliant green projectile shows te entire area your exact position. :P

I always found it odd that their weren't any slaver/raider/talon merc snipers at their strongholds. I would love to see some sniper type enemies.

He was a former slave and used the town a while ago to lure slavers in and kill them. He's super paranoid as a result and for good reason too.

Arkansas wasn't a proper sniper, all that in FO3 was scripted events, the car's exploding and all that stuff wasn't real, sorry to spoil it.

What makes you say that? I know for a fact you can get through that encounter without any cars exploding

Same. At that point in the game I didn't even know cars could explode haha through all my playthroughs I've never had a car explode there

From the wiki

"The explosion of the cars in Minefield is a scripted event based on proximity to the vehicle, which can lead to a confusing situation whereby the cars will still be "fired at" even if Arkansas is asleep or has been killed."

I would however like, in FO4 to see proper intelligence in sniper class npcs where they maybe relocate and retreat and stuff.

Yep IIRC he was an escaped slave or something. Definitely put down a number of their boys. He wasn't necessarily unhinged. He was a cornered rat with a powerful rifle. Don't blame him. Still sold him. Then freed him when I burned Paradise Falls to the ground.

Definitely, so I can get the satisfied feeling of blasting there face of with a shotgun.

Eh, I'm all up for a challenge, but getting my head blown off by a sniper I didn't even know was there sounds less like a challenge and more like an arbitrary kick in the ass.

That would be a great feature. It would be really cool if we tied perception in with sneaking/agility, so NPCs who are sneaking can move around without being seen on the hud or at certain distances if the player has really bad perception.

Yes. A "wiki lol yeahhhetc", where I imagine quite a few people voluntarily gave up their own time to contribute to said "wiki lol yeahhhetc". *shakes head*

Anyways, all I was saying is yes, I'd like to see more snipers in Fo4, I'd also like them to be a bit more challenging then a scripted one that can still magically target cars even after he has been killed.

Obviously my experience of this mission and a few others on this topic has been very different.
