Fallout 4 needs a weapon DLC

Post » Sat Feb 20, 2016 1:50 pm

You don't know, so stop saying that you do. People expected extra content of some kind and yes they may have foresaw expansion packs but they're not only going to do expansion packs. fallout 4 needs these "filler" content whether you think so or not.

People don't even know what kind of content are even in the first two dlc's they're making assumptions based off an image and price. That doesn't mean anything.

You forget the gaming industry is a business and money doesn't grow on trees. These sorts of things needs to happen as an option for people who want to buy them and to help the development costs for other dlc's, and sadly these types of dlc's are successful.

Skyrim needed them desperately, fallout 4 should have them in my personal opinion. Whether people go overboard crying about 2 dlc's who are probably just trolls doing it to cause problems doesn't really matter. Bethesda will continue to do what is best for business and provide us with content. Outside of the horse armor pack and not giving all the dlc's for playstation owners in 2007 with oblivion they have always pulled through with dlc's.

Adding weapons each dlc just happens, I remember FO3 I went to that dlc island low enough level and got some of those guns early enough.

Either way im praying for a smaller handgun other than the unique one :)

Yes I do know considering I spend a LOT of time in Fallout 4 comment sections on many sites and I can read. A lot of people bought it under the assumption they would be the same size as Fallout 3 and Skyrim's dlcs. That is a freaking fact. If you want to see the proof then look around, it's not hard to find. People will get angry when the dlcs don't have enough content in them (Hearthfire for example) and they have every right to do so. If you don't hold a company to a higher standard they will start producing sub par products which unfortunately seems to be happening with the first 2 Fallout 4 dlcs.

People aren't trolls for getting angry about what they feel is a mediocre offering. Also why are you assuming people are going off of the pictures and the price? If anything they are going off of the descriptions which Bethesda provided, which don't look promising to many from what I've read.

Didn't they say they were gonna support the game with free updates, weapon dlc's like this could just be a free update, they can even do it with new clothing. When they do start free updates it be cool to see new apparel and weapons get into the game the same as new features and such

While they could possibly do that, i don't see that happening in this case. New updates will probably be something insignificant like "overhauling survival mode" "Adding 10 new kill cams during VATS" stuff like that.

Things that adds clothing or weapons are usually done with DLC's.

So you're claiming I haven't? And btw, that makes up of what? 10% of fallout userbase? Sorry my point still stands you don't know why people bought it outside of wanting dlc's of some kind.

And quite frankly I don't agree with you posting on peoples behalf as to WHY they bought it.

And I just point out NO ONE KNOWS what other stuff are even in these dlc's. ALL they know is a image, price and a tiny synopsis that doesn't say much.

Haven't you not paid attention to the forums in the past few days of several individuals going absolutely bonkers with their posts being highly unreasonable who appear to be trolling? I do because I participated in those threads as did you. Just look at the locked threads for dlc announce or season pass thread. It's all there.

At this point, either of us continuing this argument is pointless. You are very much for filler and I am aggressively against it and I always will be.

We're both kinda screaming at a brick wall at this point lol :P

I think a weapon and armor pack is desperately needed for this game. Weapons and armor in FO4 are rubbish and not well-thought out. This is a shooting game, not Skyrim high fantasy. I expected so much in weapons after New Vegas, and ended up getting a short menu of mediocre models designed to do two things: to fit into a meh mod system, and add stylization to look good with power armor and an atomic punk theme. FO4 gave us forgettable weapons in bizarre (and laughable) chamberings, an overweight assault rifle that looks like hammered WWI pooh, randomized magical drops instead of player generated buffs, mods whose functions are intended to cover the loss of ballistic functionality, loss of ammunition calibers (and weapons to fire them), loss of ammo types, loss of reloading, loss of handloads, loss of a metric ton of field expedient explosives, no craftable nuka nades, and a magic system to implement weapon effects...most of it overweight garbage.

If ever there were a time for a company to generate a weapon and armor pack, this might be it.

The irony is some want weapons and armor expanded, some want addition story and areas (no reason to not have both)...instead, we get robots and workshop nonsense.

Way to nail it Bethesda...way to nail it! Who are you listening to exactly?

Nah Bethesda Game Studios should just release armor DLC's and weapon DLC's for free in patches.

Going to go back a few posts.

that is true, but most story DLC's add only 3 or 4 new weapons, and almost always thoughs weapons are extremely limited in the fact you can only find enemies using them in the DLC area.

Now if they added more weapons per story DLC and made it so once the story DLC is active and you have gone to the area, the weapons start apearing in the main world then I would not be complaining but as it is. having to go back to a dlc area to find one gun is quite annoying.

No you just don't know the difference between filler and function.

Anyway debaiting adding to the OP going to add atleast 3 weapons to the idea, and armor racks.

The original post is incomplete anyway as the stuff listed is like 2 dollars worth of content.

And I just stated they CAN'T. It's not the type of things that should be in free patches. Read my previous post to understand why.

First off, the different ammo type obsidian made wasn't because they thought it was a good idea, they did this because they had no other choice at the time. They were reusing 85% of the assets of Fallout 3 with New Vegas and needed different content to make it feel "different". Also the different ammo types were completely worthless really and i understand why bethesda opted instead of ammo types to make legendary effects for the entire gun to be similar.

Also there's really nothing wrong with redesigning the guns i think they look cool really but I wouldn't mind them bringing back of the other weapons like the Chinese / Xuanlong Assault Rifle or AMR because right now the .50 caliber rounds do not have a native weapon. You have to modify an existing hunting rifle or pipe rifle to be .50 cal.

Also those weapons needs to have bigger damage. like +25 more damage

They're probably gonna include a lot of new weapons and armor in Far Harbour.

yeah it is actually more then that, but hey that is coming from a game dev view not a player view.

Thing is weapons alone with out reason is not worth much to the players, the idea is incomplete.

How about a consumer's view? Consumers like to think they get a proper value for the money they spend. A weapon DLC has a roughly zero value.

From a customers view I think it is worth 5 dollars as I would pay even more just for a weapon DLC, keep in mind not all customers are the same.

Indeed, most would not buy pointless fillers like a weapon DLC.

What this guy said.

fallout 4 is an rpg, if you are limited in choice then there is sort of a lack of the RP part. weapon DLC's add a lot for story of player even though they add little for story of game. Though a good weapon dlc should come with armors and a few misc items.

I absolutely 100% agree, in a game like this having interesting, appealing, and fun to use weapons is the difference between one play through and several playthroughs, the base guns we have right now are just boring and mediocre at best, the "Assault Rifle" looks like a vacuum cleaner and is based off a World War 1 Machine Gun.

That being said I'm not too worried about no new weapons in DLC, I know that weapons are the absolute easiest things for models to fix.

Truth be told, we don't know how long it's going to be before mods for consoles come out. Hell, we don't even know when Beth's planning on releasing the Creation Kit. IMO the longer they wait, the more harm is done to the modding community as a whole.

But, mods are coming regardless, which is precisely why I stated that we have mods for this. Just because they aren't available at the moment for consoles doesn't mean they're going to magically disappear the minute the become a reality. I'd wager that the vast majority of mods available now, will still be there later.

There's your problem, you're insulting users. You can disagree but don't start attacking someone who suggests on stuff that could further enhance the combat side of the game.

Having the option of having this, even if it's not tied to a season pass, it's a good thing. Leaving it to mods isn't always the best idea since it can cause stability issues and further more make the game less enjoyable to play.

BUT i also wouldn't mind the extra weapons to be added onto the other dlc's themselves. The game does need more weapons, armor, clothing variations.

It's one of my HUGEST complaint over skyrim the lack of these types of dlc content. I'd pay $10 for a combo involving magician hood variations or Vampire hoods. MANY people would have if you been on the forums during skyrim days of being supported. Console goers like me got royally screwed over

What this guy said.

Though I am being defensive, I will not be disapointed if there is no weapon DLC.

Though standard dlc stucks in my mind as the weapons added rarely if ever can be accessed in standard areas, I don't want to be forced to play a dlc just to use a weapon.

Point lookout is a big example here cause the Lever Action Rifle can only be obtained and repaired in that dlc area. The vendors in the game must improve the stock with these dlc's adding weapons.
