Fallout: New Vegas, Dead Money?

Post » Mon Aug 10, 2009 8:33 am

Well even though I don't have New Vegas a friend has it on his computer so I play it and he was thinking of getting Dead Money but Im not exactly thrilled. From the trailer and screenshots it looks drop dead epic (no pun intended..... okay maybe a little intended) but the story of it is a little but fuzzy to me. Could someone give me feedback on the gameplay, story, and perks?

We have a couple of threads for Dead Money in the DLC section: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1174284-dead-money-dlc-pros-and-cons/

Or you could always use these forums: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/124-fallout-new-vegas-dlc-general-discussion/

Aaaanyway.
It's gameplay is challenging to say the least, and it's very storydriven, don't worry, there's still stuff to shoot at if that's your preference, but dialogue is very important in this one.
It's very survival oriented: You have an exploding collar put on your neck, and if you go to near radios it can blow, if you kill teammates it can blow, and if you don't do what Elijah says it can blow.
It also has more emphasis on using supplies wisely due to the deathgas floating around.

It's story:
You are gassed in a bunker and brought to the legendary Sierra Madre, waking up in the villa you get to speak with Elijah who was the one who ordered for your capture, he tells you that unless you want to be one head shorter you're going to listen to what he says and help him get into the casino.
During the story you will have to find three (four) other captures and use them/help them in order to get into the casino.

It has a +5 level cap and it gives a couple of new perks. (none of them are lvl30+ though, they're all around lvl 2 to lvl 10)

If you enjoy a survival atmosphere and a more storydriven DLC then this one is for you.
Just remember one very important note: Listen to what the [censored] Elijah says.
Too many whine about it being too hard or the exploding collar being too irritating and it's cause they either did not listen to Elijah or they don't have patience to search for things that give off a radio-signal.

I got it a month ago, started it but still haven't finished because I found all the wandering around mazey streets to little purpose frustrating and the atmosphere profoundly depressing. I gave up in the early section before I even got close to the casino so I should give it another go before judging it but I really didn't like the bit I played. It's much more FO3 than F:NV.

Ironically the Best Quests in FNV are infact the quests in Dead Money.

I started it at level 25/26 (can't remember) but got pissed off with it because I ended up with 1HP and no way of regaining health, but now I'm level 32 and thinking of giving it another go.
The atmosphere is a bit tense for me, if I'm honest, and the Ghost People scare the crap out of me, but then again I'm a bit of a wuss so it's probably just me.
I think it's worth playing though - I think the story, whilst confusing, is well-written and interesting.

I remember when I ran into my first ghost person. I was walking round a corner wondering what that funny sound was then HOLY [censored] WHAT IS THAT? I knocked it over and it said Ghost Harvester is unconscious WTF I just killed it I stared at it for bit then it stood back up.
OH COME ON

Or their not fast enough. I did not take my time I rushed through those speakers like a maniac :hehe:.

The only thing that truly annoys me about the DLC is the lighting and the maze like streets as said. My mind started to spin a little(seriously).

But now I have a good map in my head and things are alot more fun and I can explore without getting lost.
