Fallout: New Vegas G.E.C.K for Xbox 360?

Post » Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:37 pm

I was wondering if like Fallout 3; Fallout: New Vegas would have a version of the G.E.C.K for the Xbox 360. The reason I wonder this is because I know that it was very popular with the PC users and I think that it's not fair to leave out the people who play the game all the time on the consoles (Xbox 360, PS3). I would love to make my own contnt for Fallout and don't feel comfortable with playing or paying to upgrade my PC and play Fallout.

Thanks for your time reading this, and please say yes. :)
Big Fallout Fan!!! :)

No it won't. It's illegal.

This has been questioned many times before and I am afraid that the answer is no. Maybe it will but it is unlikely...

It'd be nice, but it WILL NOT happen in this gen for sure. We can always hope sooner or later Microsoft decides to work on the idea, though.

Even if Microsoft did do something though I bet they would charge an extra £40 for it though. HAHA!

The editor can't be ported over to the XBox 360 or PS3 since it's a Windows application. That is, it isn't software that runs in Windows but software that is specifically built around Windows architecture - releasing it for the XBox 360 or PS3 would require remaking it pretty much from the ground up. Not only is software an issue but it's unlikely either console has the hardware necessary to run the editor. Gaming consoles are specificially streamlined to play games and play media which is great when you're doing those things but can be restrictive if you try to expand beyond what they're designed for. And even if hardware and software weren't limitations as others have pointed out its unlikely Microsoft or Sony would allow it.

PCs and consoles each have their advantages and disadvantages. One advantage of consoles is their static hardware which means you never have to worry about having insufficient specs or the wrong drivers. Unfortunately as a closed system consoles also don't have easy access to things like editors and fan-made content. Both Microsoft and Sony have been putting their toes in the water with this generation, maybe they'll try taking the plunge soon.

As open platforms PCs have access to a lot that consoles don't but then they PC gamers can run in to hardware and software problems and PCs are also much more expensive then comparative consoles, especially at launch.

Since editors won't be coming to the consoles I think it's best that this discussion be locked.
