Fallout New Vegas Interview with Pete Hines

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:08 pm

Hello everyone,

I recently sat down with Pete Hines for a 40 minute audio interview to discuss Fallout New Vegas.

I've had a chance to play New Vegas and it is fantastic!

I hope you enjoy the interview and you can http://talkingaboutgames.com/podcasts/ugr/6403-unclegamer-radio-episode-138

Mods if this is not allowed my apologies and please remove

Nice one... Thanks for the linky.

Were you satisfied that Vegas was a step up from FO3?

Listening to it right now.

I've had a chance to play New Vegas and it is fantastic!

How different did F:NV feel (gameplaywise, not looks-wise) from FO3. I mean there are obvious similiarities, but did you feel the changes in gameplay that were applied?

One nitpick, at the top of your lead in page, you said
What happens in New Vegas, stays buried in the Wasteland

It should be "What happens in New Vegas gets posted on the internet."

Heh. I've been looking for an excuse to use that and am easily amused.

if you had to give this game a review from a 1-10 .5 is usable (like 9.5) what would you give this game based of the small time you had with it

skip 5 minutes in to start interview
skip 10 minutes in to start discussion about pricing/DLC (not FNV DLC, just DLC in general and the controversy around it)
skip 18 1/2 minutes to start obvious/already answered F:NV Q&A
skip the entire thing if you're looking for anything new.

This is a good listen if you know literally nothing about the game. I would suggest this be a sticky just so new guys can listen to this before they start asking questions.

Also, does Pete sound PO'd through this entire interview to anyone else?

I didn't come away thinking he was PO'd at all, Pete is a great guy (I edited out how Pete gave me a walkthrough of Fallout 3 at E3 2008) and Im looking forward to getting him on the show again.

As for the lack of new information, as a Fallout fan I did not want to spoil anything and would rather everyone experience some of the surprises for themselves.

I think we even address that towards the end of the interview.

This is a solid follow up to Fallout 3 and Obsidian finger prints are all over this game.

I cannot give a review until Tuesday but trust me, if you are a Fallout fan this is a day one purchase

I knew most of the answers to the questions already answered, but it was really nice to hear Pete's thoughts. I really liked his words on pre-order DLC and why New Vegas wasn't an expansion. Thanks for the interview!

I enjoyed the hardcoe discussion. I like hearing people talk about the game because the people I know aren't talking about it. Thanks. :)

Basically I've been trying to fast-forward time with my mind. Generally that means sleeping alot. Also been watching terminator : sArah connor chronicles.
Been playing FO2 also, so I'll be able to see at least some references in NV
