Wow, a lot of spam here huh.
Main Quest:
Neither, I think neither of them have a spectacular storyline really, FO3's was badly written and New Vegas' felt very forced unless you go with House or maybe Yes Man.
The writing would feel solid, but the problem is that it's the same for House, NCR and Legion, go recruit a certain tribe, go kill another tribe, mess around with a casino, kill House (if NCR and Legion) then battle at Hoover Dam.
It would have been far better if the quests for each main quest path were unique, say that recruiting this certain tribe is only something that Legion wants, you "can" do it for House and NCR too but they don't give it as an ultimatum for continuing the quest line.
Right now it feels very much like a checklist for each of the three paths.
Do this, do that, do them, do him, battle, final destination.
I hope that for future Fallout games depending on which main quest path you choose the quests are actually different.
Side Quests:
New Vegas, FO3 has like 17 sidequests and most of them involve grinding enemies.
Environments:
New Vegas, it feels more in touch with the old games which also took place in the desert.
Companions:
New Vegas, only one's I liked in FO3 was Charon and Fawkes, in New Vegas I love all of them except that crybaby Boone.
Factions:
New Vegas, FO3 got like what? 5 factions? And 3 of them tries to kill you.
