Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition announced!

I hope that Steam sells an upgrade (standard to ultimate), or sets up a discount (50%, maybe 75% off) for all DLCs and Add-ons.

What retailers will supply it in Europe and how much will it be?
It's annoying but I want to buy this for the 360 but I already have the CE. I'll get it for the PC though.

So since this generally means no more patches, I don't suppose there's any chance that the Steamworks integration might get removed on this?
I doubt it. As Skyrim (and Rage) is also on Steamworks, Beth is going to stick with it I suppose.

TNot sure about the first part (to be honest I doubt it), but I'm fairly certain the second part will happen during the famous Steam holiday sales, which should start in a week or 5 (or something like that :) )

Yes, I'm aware. Oh, how I'm aware. What I was hoping for though was some sign that perhaps they'll disconnect it since it's a GOTY, which is usually a final form of the game and all that jazz. AKA what they should have sold you guys for the $60 to start with.

They've already said no more patches. This is the final game as-is right now, just a hard copy.
They dropped support for New Vegas a while back.

Bethesda is well aware of that, they shouldn't release a broken product. And you can't talk for them, Seph.

I agree which is why the February date is unusual, kinda has me thinking that they will release One final patch to fix whatever is possible to fix and then include that in the Ultimate edition.

I'll probably end up getting this, though later than Feb., as I don't own the DLC.

I'm not talking for them, they said a while back that they've dropped support. That everyone else has moved onto other things.

[Edit]
Around the GRA release Jason Bergman said that he was the last person working on the game and he was closing up shop so to speak.

Hope they'll drop Steamworks from the DVD edition - if there's going to be a DVD edition at all. That's the one thing that stopped be from buying the game day one and I haven't changed my mind about Steam since (the terms of the SSA are, frankly, unacceptable, not to mention the abysmal UI and service quality; how anyone in their right mind can put up with this crap is beyond my understanding).

It would be clever marketing trick if they released the ultimate edition with huge patches that fixes virtually every bug. Would probably get us hardcoe fans who already own all the content to buy it.

The hell? No, the bug fixes would have to be made available to normal edition players as well. Anything else would be a titanic and shameless ripoff, and unethical business.

Obsidian might of stopped supporting it, but there's no reason Bethesda can't step in and try and fix it.

Already posted this in the DLC forum, but nobody reads that so it seems. Here it goes:

Finally! I never buy online DLC's, so I'm definitely gonna buy this! But I have to ask: How does it work when you already own a copy of vanilla NV (on PC)? Do you have to uninstall it? How does Steam react when you activate a game you already own? I'm confused.

But there's no reason for them to either. The game's already way more stable than it used to be and they're already going to sell this to enough people without putting more work into it to make it worth their while.

Also, Bethesda didn't do anything for this game other than publish it. What makes you think they'd suddenly decide to step in and fix some bugs now that Obsidian says it's good enough to drop support?

Sorry if I sound like a dike or anything, I'm just being realistic.

Strange to do it after the holidays though.

Bethesda won't even fix bugs like the Zeta winterized general's coat -> winterized combat armor issue that are literally five seconds to fix.

Speaking of which, a quick perusal of the FNV credits will tell you that a lot of Bethesda QA people contributed to the... ahem, quality assurance of the game, so even if Beth did devote effort to fixing things... Would it do any good? ;)

I wonder if any of the updates come along with this?

One of my best friends has no internet connection, and is stuck with the default New Vegas. As all gamers know, the launch New Vegas is bug riddled trash that isn't fit to be a coaster. Only with the updates has the game become "playable". He'll be glad to hear of this!

All the updates come with the GOTY/Ultimate Editions. Especially since you need most [if not all] of the updates to play all the DLC.

It should have the latest patch, hopefully the reason why Beth pushed the date back to February is to get one more patch in before they release the Ultimate edition.

Oh, I can pretty much guarantee you it'll have the latest patch.

As far as another patch though, I wouldn't get your hopes up buddy. They most likely have it releasing in February so it doesn't compete at all with Skyrim. You don't want anything of your own competing with your Flagship, they wouldn't risk the slightest drop in sales. I'm actually kind of surprised they even announced it before Skyrim came out, I mean, sure it's all the way in February, but there are sure some people waiting for this that may be able to wait that much longer for Skyrim with this bit of knowledge.
