Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition announced!

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 4:45 am

Bethesda has http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/11/03/fallout-new-vegas-ultimate-edition-arrives-in-february/ the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition.
It'll be out on the 7th of february.
(A bit late, I think probably so Fallout:NV UE won't get in the way of Skyrim sales?)

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition Arrives in February

We’re pleased to announce the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition will be available in retail stores across North America on February 7th 2012 and throughout Europe on February 10th. The Ultimate Edition comes complete with all of the game add-on content for Fallout: New Vegas – Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, Courier’s Stash, and Gun Runners’ Arsenal.

For players who are seasoned explorers of New Vegas or just getting into the game for the first time, the Ultimate Edition expands beyond the Wasteland like never before with the Sierra Madre Casino, Zion National Park, Big MT research crater and the treacherous Divide now open for exploring. Along with new areas to explore, each of the four main add-on packs increases the maximum level cap by five levels, ultimately raising the cap to level 50.

New Vegas Ultimate Edition will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

What do you mean? Did they say there wasn't going to be an ultimate edition for New Vegas?
I hope they fix the engine finally.

It's probably just a compilation of the game + all DLC, nothing else.

Ahahah xD Question: If I want to get the physical copy of the ultimate edition, would they pay me anything for the used steam version?:/ I know is a silly question but I don't know how it works when you bring a used PC version of a game back to the shop

If you already registered, then you can't return a game to the shop.
If you haven't registered in Steam yet it might still be possible.

This is great news if it's like all the other ultimate editions/GOTY's that Beth does, the DLC and other stuff being on a physical disk.

Can't believe I skipped over the date it comes out. It's the same day that Reckoning comes out, guess I'll get both games and it pretty much confirms that I'll be going out at midnight to Gamestop.

Oh God. I hope they'll take this opportunity to do other patches to fix some of the DLCs because the game lags need to go away. It this means I'll have to get the Ultimate Edition, I'll get it, but for God's Sake, I want FNV to work and I want to finish it for once.

I wonder if this version has been unhooked from Steam? If it has, I'll definitely be buying it. I've got the original plus the DLC from steam already, but if Steam has been removed I'll happily buy a second copy.

I'll likely buy this as a useful backup copy, but I hope we'll be getting more patches and fixes soon. New Vegas is still far from working just right, getting tired of being one of many unpaid beta testers for games these days that are rushed out with so many problems and so few fixes.

I'm pretty sure they will patch up the game more before the Ultimate release... Let's hope they'll do something about this.

Finally, now people can stop making "will there be a GOTY edition" threads. Did FO win GOTY? Cause if not that's obviously why it's not called GOTY

Engine needs to be fixed, e. g. Stereo OGG sound files will result in buggy playback (playing twice - I will wonder why they must convert the files from OGG to MP3 for dialogues, for ambiance engine wants wav files instead of ogg, resulting in not playing). And of course crashes ;)

I wonder how FNV would work if they re-uploaded all the scripts on the Creation engine, which is basically the Gamebryo engine... Mmm...

It would be clever marketing trick if they released the ultimate edition with huge patches that fixes virtually every bug. Would probably get us hardcoe fans who already own all the content to buy it.

If it fixes a lot bugs including game crashes, adds a few enhancements like smarter A.I., I'll shell out the $50 or $60 bucks for it.

Hey, are you Paladin Dune?

heh, sorry. Saw your sig and just had to be "that" guy.

ON TOPIC!

Ultimate Edition means nothing to me - I already own all the DLC and add-ons. As for any potential new bug fixes... that would be very bad for Beth to pull unless they released the patches for existing owners of the game. For the record though, I don't think there will be any new patches.

Nope, probably one of the 3 reasons why they wanted to release it later.

So since this generally means no more patches, I don't suppose there's any chance that the Steamworks integration might get removed on this?

(Tried to post that to the blog, but they closed the comments thread, sneaky)

LOL. I'm not saying it is the morally right thing to do to use loyal players. But I would take the bait in a second and say "thank you sir, may I have another."
