Fallout New Vegas uses music from Oblivion!

Post » Wed Apr 21, 2010 4:25 am

I don't have any proof, but I remember several times in Fallout New Vegas when I entered a sewer or building or something and it had to load, I listened carefully and I heard the same music to that of Oblivion!

If you're not sure what music I'm talking about, here's a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB5T6bgZBJc. The music I heard started at 2:35. Also, I think I might have heard the song at 3:22 as well.

Eh? I never heard that and i would have definitely noticed the intro theme to OBLIVION. Did hear one great ambient track from FALLOUT 3 though while walking in the desert.

He wasn't talking about the intro music. He meant the dungeon music.

True and I like it, I had exactly the same experience.

That would have been harder to spot since the dungeon music would fit in perfectly with the atmosphere without sounding like a sword and sorcery rpg. Yes i might have heard some OBLIVION dungeon music in one of the coyote inhabited caves.

I for one take a great joy in finding little things like references and music that seem to intertwine several games.

They also used a LOT of the Fo1 and 2 music, like the Gecko theme(Vault 11), Nechropolis theme(Nipton) and so on. I was really happy when I heard them the first time :-D

Inon Zur has a tendency to make music that sounds very samey. Not as bad as Fallout 3, where every atmospheric track sounded like it was from the forests in Oblivion.

I like him, but I really think they should get some people collaborating with him. I think it's his pitfall, but I still think this soundtrack was a better direction than Fallout 3.

I swore I heard the Oblivion main menu theme in a faint background track....

I spent the next 6 hours humming it as a slaughtered Legionaries.

Looked through all the music files, but Dungeon 5 is most definitely not among them. ^_^

Then the songs I've heard must sound very similar, or maybe the music file doesn't share the same name to that of Oblivion. Did you try to listen to a few seconds of each music file to find out if there was one?

That's just what I did. Except for the old Fallout tracks, none are named in a recognisable way.
I would say that what you heard was just a track by Inon Zur that is more Soule-esque, and thus fairly easy to confuse with something else. ^_^

Not to mention Morrowind music. The dust storm audio in Hidden Valley is EXACTLY the same as the audio from the storms in the Urshilaku/Ald-ruhn area.

I already had the feeling that I knew some of the ambient tracks.
