Might be a monorail system, but nothing we can control/drive or ride (like a Brahmin). Any transportation would be like the hand pump train car to get to The Pitt. Or the Steam boat to Point Lookout. There will be no Vehicles for us to control.

That's from the original van buren concept arts, so it doesn't apply.

wait so oblivion can support horses, hell people 80X faster than horses, but there isn't enough room in nevada for a [censored] apocalyptic plasma powered akira bike? Lame.

Replay Oblivion. The horse was terrible.

Though not as bad as in Two Worlds.

As I understand it, Bethesda chose to remove horse riding animations (as well as Bow/Arrow and most melee animations) when they developed the engine for Fallout 3. Whether Obsidian chose to reimplement them is unknown, but since we haven't heard about it, I doubt they have done so.

As for other vehicles, the gamebryo engine (Any engine actually) has to have them coded in at the earlyist stages of development. From what we know, Obsidian haven't been developing New Vegas anywhere nearly long enough to have take the engine apart in order to then start coding in vehicle support. (This is same reason there's no multiplayer support)

True, but both currently get taken to the woodshed by horses from the mmo, Fallen Earth.

The only vehicle that was ever seen/featured was in FO2... while I agree that it would be nice to have, say, a motorcycle that you get to ride, i'm perfectly content with getting around on two legs and using the fast-travel when needed.

No, as an RPG the game has to have options for the player. Stop being ignorant. Borderlands is not the game we want to play, we want to play Fallout. Vehicles would give us more options and that makes RPGs more fun. So instead of taking the fun from the players, if you don't like vehicles then don't use them. Simple as that.

The thing is that vehicles would be [censored] terrible with the current engine.

Yeah, I was just saying that vehicles aren't bad. But with the engine problem, it's true. The Gamebyro engine is bad. Well it's almost OK but still...why not iD tech? That would be great. Maybe for Fallout 4.

I don't want them wasting time on vehicles so you can jump ramps or do donuts for a few minutes when they could spend time making other features better. If you really wanted to "play fallout" then you wouldn't be asking for cars. Cars do not a fallout make.

And who are you to judge us?

1. You don't make the game.
2. You don't tell the players what they can and can't do.

Just because they implement vehicle doesn't mean it's going to take away from the core game. Just look at other games...Bad Company 2, GTA, etc. And are those games bad? No, they aren't. With the logic you use then I guess modeling a Radroach is too hard. "Oh noez, the game is going to svck now, it's so hard, I better go kill myself." Hard work pays off. Vehicles always make the game fun...

He's saying that drivable vehicles have never been a big part of the Fallout franchise. Hence "cars do not a Fallout make."

Further, for a game this size, cars are rather impractical. It can work in Fallout 2 where everything's abstracted and there's a worldmap with hundreds and hundreds of miles to cross. It wouldn't work too well in a game this small.

There's supposed to be a monorail, but as for controllable vehicles, there's nothing you can drive. A functioning train is good enough for me.

I think it's quite impressive this thread is still alive. Good for you, thread!

By the way, Gary (or Chase, whatever that is), GTA isn't a good game despite of cars... It's Grand Theft AUTO, would have been a bit odd if there were no cars in there, wouldn't it?

It's not that "cars don't fit in Fallout" (they do, actually) it's "this engine would explode with cars in it". If it was possible, it was already in and no one would ever had said "this doesn't fit" people would have just accepted driving their highwayman and would have thought "hey, this is quite cool. I actually wanted to do this since F2".

Fallout two is not the only fallout game with Vehicles. If you want a fallout game with Vehicles I recommend, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout_Tactics (Not to be confused with the PS2 game BoS). It has Vehicles. Anyways the OP's Question has been awesered. There will be no vehicles or animals we can control. There might be transportation like the boat to Point Lookout and the hand pump train car to The Pitt.

Maybe Vehicles in Future Fallouts but not this one.
