fallout new vegas weather

Post » Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:58 am

I was wondering if in the next patch for fallout new vegas for the PS3 and the XBOX 360 that if bethesda would add a weather system in new vegas I know they have mods for pc but it would be cool if they had it in the real game like snow in Jacobs town and rain, for the people how have no computer that can hold mods and people who have the XBOX 360 and PS3 version tell me what you think

I suspect they don't do it so as to maintain realism. The average annual precipitation for Vegas is only 4.5 inches per year compared to the 37 inches where I live, and snow is an extremely rare occurance for the city. I notice though that they do have smaller dust storms in the game, larger ones in the basins. Perhaps some heat lightning at night could be a neat feature to add.

I thought the nuclear war had permanently altered the global weather?
Like, turning the world into an arid, desert-like wasteland?

Can't remember where I read that, but I had figured that was why there wasn't any rain anywhere..

Yeah, hadn't thought of that... add some lightning and thunder in Quarry Junction and it could be like the first levels of Clive Barkers Undying... a few Deathclaw howls and a crazy sister... the mood would be completely HORRIFIC! They should totally do it.

It won't rain in the Mojave, as said above the area expects an annual rainfail of under five inches a year. Even if they had rain you could play for 100 hours and still never see it.

Honest Hearts however has rain as about 30 seconds into the trailer you see it raining.

I think if you were to take any random RPG location in any game and argue that they need more dynamic weather, New Vegas would be the most justified for having static weather. It's a friggin' desert. A post-apocalyptic desert.
