Fallout 4 not launching after working previously

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:47 pm

Hello There,

I am about 50 hours into gameplay of Fallout 4 already until suddenly upon launching the game again, it refused to launch.

When it starts up it appears as a background process and a black screen which then refuses to respond upon clicking on it. Changing the game to windowed and borderless mode however launches the game in the background (which I can hover over the tab of and see the intro screen running) and yet I still cannot click on it to bring it up so it remains a background process. Going to the Task Manager and switching to the game does not work either.

I have attempted updating video drivers, verifying the game cache, and reinstalling (with computer restarts in between them all) without luck.

Thank you in advanced for the help,

I do know that the specs are fairly low however it has been running without issue until a few days ago when this started happening, and as far as i know nothing in my system has been updated or altered.
I just know I'm having withdraws from not watching dogmeat snake (unsucessfully) through minefields.

One of two things is going on, either a corrupted save, or you installed some new program recently that is taking focus from the game.

So, try to load an earlier save, or even, temporarily archive your saves and see if the game launches and lets you create a new character. It could be just the last save that is corrupted.

However, I would bet it's a back ground app causing this. Try a strict clean boot, only Steam Service should be enabled among the non MS Services, and no background apps, at all.
