Fallout 4 not launching

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 12:04 am

For some reason or another, my Fallout 4 isn't launching, i havent gotten past the "play" screen once yet. I checked the official website for troubleshooting tips but nothing has worked so far. I think that it may be due to having slightly lower specs than is necessary for the game, any advice or way to fix this? I've already tried putting the settings to the lowest they can go.

My laptop specs:

- Intel Core i3 1.7GHz

- Intel HD graphics 4400

- 8GB Memory

- 1000GB HDD

Much thanks in advance.

What causes that particular setup to crash then?

That's a lot more than slightly less than minimum requirements. If you get it running, it's not going to be a good time.

Intel graphics hardware is unstable because the hardware is being pushed to the limit (well beyond it) and Intel's graphics driver is poor.

DXCPL allows you to emulate different feature levels. However, in the video they emulated to a version that the game already runs on (and most likely the iGPU is already compatible with), so it may have offloaded much of the processing back to the CPU (not the integrated graphics chipset). Which means the graphics hardware and/or software (driver) is less stressed, but having the CPU deal with all the API calls, means framerate is going to be terrible.

Obviously, I am guessing.

Force WARP (option in DXCPL) allows the CPU to render frames or at least help out the graphics chipset when its not capable of rendering stuff. (I think).

TL;DR. DXCPL allows the CPU is help out more and may fix issues related to an over-stressed GPU.

The driver plays a part too. Anyway FO4 is not listed as a playable game for HD 4400 under Intel site.

Certainly won't be fun to play at any rate with that kind of setup.

Well, as you have bought the game already, as a last resort try the workaround that others have mentioned above.

And may the Force be with you...

AT least you have it. Remember to check those sys requirements before you buy.
