Fallout 3 not working on Windows 8

Post » Sat Nov 15, 2014 5:42 am

I just bought Fallout yesterday and even after disabling Games for Windows Live and trying to run the game in compatibility mode, I'm still getting the message "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

There's no error message or code or anything, it just says that and shuts down. This is the biggest bs error message I have ever seen and I have no idea what to do. Any advice?

I have Windows 8.1, and Fallout 3 wouldn't work until I updated GFWL. Assuming you have a quad core, http://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/846941710314682539/

Now did you use the GFWL disabler mod from Nexus? I had that when I had Windows 7 but when I tried to use it when I got my then-new PC with Windows 8, it borked not only Fallout 3 but all my games by scattering all the data files and folders from one installation to the other. Make sure and check your Fallout 3 folder and other game folders to make sure GFWL disabler did not touch those files.
