Fallout or Oblivion style DLC

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:31 pm

In F0:3 I really felt that the majority of the DLCs weren't worth my money, or even the time it took to download them. Out of 5 DLCs I really only enjoyed Point lookout, and Broken Steel. So while I didn't necessarily like The Shivering Isles ( don't ask why, but I just despised the madness realm) there was TONNES of content, and it was clear that effort had been put into it, and I didn't beat the main story in 2 hours.

So, what do you think should be done with DLC.

I voted "Other" because I want Morrowind-like DLC. It's the free kind that is definitely worth playing.

Also, since when is horse armor or a castle massive? :P

I think you have those mixed up. Oblivion was known for horse armor and things like the Orrery. FO3 was known for the mini-expansions.

I think the future of DLC is not in small DLC, like horse armor. I think it lies in more substantial expanded content, similar to what we can find in FO3.

The Shivering Isles was an expansion, and KotN was sort of a mini-expansion. Couldn't you buy it in stores?

Also, FO3 DLC added new locations almost every time, didn't it?

Knights of the nine wasn't that big, but SI was decent. I want big style like Morrowind though.

MW had real expansions (though SI was like that).

They should just keep making big things like the SI, or Bloodmoon, and Tribunal, with little things coming out every so often. No more horse armor.

Yeah, if I'm going to spend money on game add-ons, they should be well thought out expansions, not things slapped together in a few weeks and sold for more money than they're worth. I still don't buy this DLC phenomenon. It's all kinda garbage to me.

A Shivering Isles type expansion is the only thing that I would want as DLC in Skyrim.

I think they should focus on making good expansion-packs instead of DLCs. If they make DLCs (which is very likely) they should be free like those for Morrowind.

Oblivion is known for Shivering Isles, more than anything. This is what I want - DLC that's actually worth getting excited about. I'd pay another $60 for an expansion if it was worth it.

Oblivion expansions with Fallout DLC every now and then(Instead of houses) sounds perfect to me.
Edit: On further thought... Give me my real expansions!

If Shivering Isles is considered DLC, then Oblivion. I don't care about all the small things, like the house mods and horse armor, but a large expansion such as Shivering Isles beats mini expansion DLCs like FO3's any time.

I'd rather have true expansions, but lacking that, detailed, involved DLC that adds significant new content and resources to the game: a dungeon adventure using new tilesets, an island in a different region, etc.

Voted other, since none of the options seemed appropriate.

This

I rather want expansion packs than small DLCs, but if I have to choose between the DLCs from OB and FO3 I'd rather want the mini quests from FO3 than new homes and horse armors.
they should be free like those for Morrowind.

Of course they won't be free, not in todays market. :(

Morrowinds DLCs (or just official plugins as they were called) weren't really anything other than an example to show the community what could be done with the Construction Set. It's not comparable to today's DLCs.

Thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts :celebration: , and I'm sorry I didn't think the poll out as much as I should've. By Oblivion Style DLC I meant things like SI, Tribunal, Bloodmoon ect.

Fail on my part :shakehead: lol

What? Oblivion had one expansion and a lot of lil add ons that were pretty fun and cheap man. I don't know what your talking about but Oblvion did both first in Bethesda's line of work.

Oblivion had massive DLCs? DLCs just by their nature cannot be "massive". If they are, then they are not DLCs, but rather entire expansions. Besides, I'd rather not start thinking that Beth is going to need to add content to the game already before it's even released. If they are going to add content for it, they better be expansions and if they are small content like Horse Armor, it should be free (sort of like Morrowind stuff was). I don't want to have to pay extra for content that looks like the devs forgot to put in and then try to milk money out of it instead.

I think a mixture of large and smaller DLC is best. However, I would like to see huge expansions later on.

I'd like to see SI size expansions, but I also like the little things like horse armor. At the same time, I like the new locations of the Fallout DLCs.

Bloodmoon was great

Knights of the Nine was great

Shivering Isles was great

Broken Steel was great

I want great DLCs like these ones. Not like ones from individual games.
