Put it this way; if Fallout 3 & Fallout: New Vegas were both released today, they both had hundreds of quests, weapon mods, iron sights and they both had a never ending game (play after you complete the main quest), what one would you pick?
I'd pick Fallout 3; as soon as you leave the vault you can do whatever you like. (You can head to Mwgaton, head to Rivit City, explore deathclaw sanctuary or just general exploring) Add all the features that NV has like the quests and stuff, then this game would be better.
In NV, you NEED to go to Primm -> Nipton -> Novac before you can begin to explore, so for me Fallout 3 wins.
(And don't tell me "NV let's you choose your ending", becuase that's a lie, I don't like The NCR, The Legion, Mr. House OR Yes man... Sure Fallout 3 might be even worse on choosing the story, but hey, it's a 4 year old game!)
Tf kind of argument is that?
That's like saying "k so put it this way: if Twilight series had all the lore, depth, character detail and good writing of Lord of the Rings series, which would you choose?" You're giving FO3 ALL of the good features FO:NV has that FO3 doesn't. I could easily turn that around and say "Ok so put it this way; if FO:NV also had lots of exploration and freedom with exploration, which would you choose?"
That's NOT how it is. That's why we DON'T base our decisions on fantasy settings. FO3 has good exploration but a crap plot and weak RPG elements, FO:NV has less epic exploration epic meaning something dramatic happens everywhere) but strong RPG elements and a good story.
And FO3 gets a pass on it's story because it's four years old? Well [censored],
Don Quixote must be like the Jesus Christ of stories, considering it was written ages ago and continues to be one of the most popular books of all time. No, doesn't work like that. Stories have been written since man walked the earth. Technology improves over time, stories do not. There's great stories being told today, there were great stories being told hundreds of years ago. Age is no excuse for a crap story, it's only an excuse for graphics and some game mechanics.
