Fallout Online ideas and suggestions

Post » Sat Aug 08, 2009 1:02 pm

I just made this so everyone can share thier ideas. Please no flamewars, insults,or trolling.

World Map:
I think the world map should be huge like half of the U.S. Instead of taking half a real-world day to travel between two towns the game world would be divided into section so when you reach the edge of a section it just shows a view of the wasteland and goes to a loading sceen.

Vehicals:
You can get vehicals from certian groups with the mechanical knowladge like the BoS. Of course vehical are there to make travel between towns faster and are meant for whats left of the roads. Some vehicals can handel off road thus they can be used for exploring.Depending on the vehical it can only hold 4-5 players in it.You can use the trunk to store weapons and supllies, or if there's room in the back seats. Vehicals need fuel so if you plan on traveling with a vehical the game will not let you leave the section without enough gas. Gas can be bought from certian town.In the next section I will tell which one has gas.

Towns:
There are certian typs of town.
* Miner settlements-These settlement are the main reason vehicals can be used. They will most of the time sell gas to the sorrounding settlements, but some miner town will keep the gas and will be the only place to get gas from the section.
* Small town-These are your average newly formed town they may or may not be racist to some of the other playable races. If the miner town in the sector sells gas to other towns you can get gas here although it may be a bit more expensive or limted than other towns. They only have the basics and nothing really fancy.
* Non-Faction city-These type of town are free from any of the factions rule. They have a bigger selction than small towns but not as big as faction-controled towns.Thier gas prices are always the lowest if the miner town sells any.
* Faction-controled citys- These towns belong to a certian faction. They have a mid to high gas price and have the biggest variarty of supllies, but thier supllies are limited to what the faction mostly uses.

* Survivalist Mode: There are some who would like a survival mode and some who would like to play without it. There can be some severs that support the feature and some that doesn't. In survivalist mode the player would need to eat and drink regularly.

No vehicles please, or instant travel. That stuff just ruins MMOs.

No instant travel yes. I love traveling system in Fallout 1 and 2. That system would be great.

Welcome aboard
Guns367 and Messiarrhea

Take a look around, it will take some time cause there are lots of posts. :)

I think you will find that most of what Guns367 mentioned has already been dicussed a lot. ;)

And there is a 'official' poll by Chris about transit times between locations.

Enjoy the forums and welcome

Hmm just wandering through some games...I thought since we don't know anything about what characters or mutant races - we will be able to play ...or only human?...maybe that you always start as human and as you progress and reach a certain level / get some respect...form a fraction...you can turn yourself in a mutant or robobrain or ghoul by voluntary joining a faction...hmm or maybe too much exposure to some vats or radiation if not cured in time will mutate your character... Ghouls will be excellent. Will make for some nice PVP in radioactive areas. Granted the PVP system isn't a mess.

I could see no instant travel lol that would just be lame take all the fun out of traveling.. But vehicles would fit the previous games used them. Im pretty sure you could build a car or motorcycle should be hard to build them though.

As for me and all the other Enclave fans use vertibird travel, Bos those constructed flying machines they built to travel but didnt work so well as i read lol. Aswell they could implement a monorail system and supermutants could ride deathclaws or brahmin or something lol but i dont think walking all the way across the U.S would be quick lol then you complete your quest and got to walk back to the other side lmao...

.... I mean seriously picture a supermutant on a fat brahmin lmao.... wouldnt that be a site some badass riding an overweight brahmin lol... Image

God Bless the Enclave. God Bless America.

I could see crafting or repairing/restoring vehicles as a means for faster travel but, to craft or repair would be something of a maximum skill level, quest chain driven, and no easy feat to maintain type ordeal. I can also see some freaking awesome weapons/items/armour from the same system. But I say it has to be an option type thing. Choice to make a vehicle or the other craft-able items. Now you're getting my hopes up! Heck, if gamesas adds this in it would be cool. Not for regular combat of course; just as well, extremely hard to create. I'd get a group of people just to construct one, I don't care if I pilot. Well I guess we're just a couple of problem solvers

I was thinking maybe a lair? It would be like the house in fallout 3 and new vegas but you could put turrets around it and maybe salvage a protectron or 2 to protect it from would be raiders ,plant mines around it and generally make it your own little base of operations.

make it a cave or a abandoned pre war bunker or something that a single person or a group can fortify and use to store stuff .

You know what I hate in these kinds of games? Switching out weapons, as it's so immersion breaking. You put your weapon away in combat, it magically changes into something else, then you pull that out and start using it. Seriously? My idea is that the quick-slot bar should have a weapon quick-select also.

You can have up to four weapons on that quick-select bar, and they cosmetically appear on your avatar.
1. You can carry up to two one-handed weapons (such as pistols, SMGs, knives, and swords) and up to two rifle-sized weapons on your back (one over each shoulder).
2. If you're carrying a big gun (or a sniper rifle, even though it's considered "small"), then you can only carry that one gun on your back, yet still have room on your belt.
3. You can carry one two-handed melee weapon on your back in place of a rifle.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WONDERING how this is useful, let me tell you. I have my standard wasteland survivalist hunting rifle for sniping down enemies from medium to long range. For close range, I have my magnum revolver, and when I'm sneaking around, I have my silenced pistol. The mode of battle could change at any time. For instance, my sneak attack might not kill with the first shot, the enemy might raise the alarm, and suddenly 5 other enemies might appear. Oh crap, switching to magnum. The enemies are dead now, thank you quick-select!

Another thing about this system is that when you quick-select one of your four (or three) weapons, then there would be an animation of you not only putting your weapon away, but reaching over and getting out your other weapon. Now I understand that some people might not like this system (there will always be someone who disagrees with you), this is open to criticism and suggestions. After all, it came to me this morning right after I woke up.

Also, Dual-wielding. You would lose accuracy and damage, but would be able to fire faster and look badass.

P.S. I hope that there are multiple looks of the same kind of weapons and armors. Not all assault rifles should look like M-16's or all leather armors look just like Mad Max's. This is simply because, if we're all different, why do we look the same? I put the 'Skill' in 'Kill.'
Wait, what?

Sounds fair, but is dual-wielding that normal in the Fallout universe? Image

Here's hoping for a Beatles-themed quest on V13.

Please no loading screen travel that defeats the whole point of the game being so large but the vehicle transport sounds... all right. The vehicles should be incredibly hard to create because remember this is like 200 years after the last mass produced vehicle or set of spare parts was made or a least civilian stuff. But the vertibirds do sound epic I can imagine it now in PVP, some faction drops off a group of commandos and just flies around giving cover fire and the like maybe ferrying back and forth for reinforcements.

The Fallout Tactics map with Fallout I and II attatched to it would be nice. It would be true to the Fallout universe and the location selection at character creation would be canon. Do you get your upbringing in the Hub or the Vault City? At the NCR HQ or in the Arroyo village? Maybe in New Reno or San Fransisco. Why not Shady Sands or the Khans HQ. Maybe you′re a man of the cloth and came from the Catherdral area or you were brought up at the Boneyard as a gun runner. Then there are Modoc, Klamath, the Den (slavers Den), Redding (mining community), Broken Hills, Junktown, Necropolis and various vaults.

The Fallout Tactics locations is not in this list, i trust you know them by heart.

Pfft nothing is too much lol when you have such a killer MMo being created. But i think it would need to be split into sections West Coast , East Coast, the Midwest/ Middle section of the U.S Image
