Fallout Online MMO

I agree with you that graphics are important, though. After playing Age of conan with it's stellar graphics (for an mmo), the Masthead graphics do look a bit dated.

I thought they did too. Oh, I have to go see the Age of Conan graphics now that you said that! I shouldn't be such a graphics hound I guess, but if one company sets a bar higher than others, it is hard to understand why the others won't compete with that, hard for me to enjoy a lesser effort. Thanks for the tip on Age of Conan, now I am dying to see it, and am going to hunt out gameplay vids!

I'd like to know more about V13. If Interplay does it, I'd buy it. If Bethesda does it, I'd Certainly buy it. I liked fallout 1 and 2, but I personally liked Fallout 3 much, much more.

does anyone else think this will ruin the entire aesthetic of the game

i mean ffs

all of the games have been about lone survival, lets see,

Lone Survival Horror(ish) X 5-10 Million People = ??

the reason most of the fallout games have been popular is because of the chill you feel at beeing alone

i think it will turn the franchise into [censored] pie, just like WoW did to one of the funnest RTS games ive ever played

i [censored] hate MMOs...

they ruin everthing...

Loooool :P

An MMO wouldn't depict you as a 'lone wanderer' or a hero of sorts, though you could still RP that if you liked. The idea I'm guessing is that everyone has their place in the world. People talk about being a 'hunter' or a 'scavenger' in FO3 because of their insatiable need to LARP, putting their own preferences over their character. In this respect an MMO would have a better outlet for this kindof demographic.

How is it going to ruin anything for you if you aren't going to play it? How did WoW ruin Warcraft? I see the MMO aspect of these franchises as separate entities.

I'm with Chris on this, thats one of the only ways it would work. The other possiblity, is various military/gang orginaizations as the creation points for all characters.

I'm pretty sure IP is planning to have factions, at least from what I read.

I really can't see a fallout mmo in the future, it does look hard and expensive to do, and would be a failure if not done right.
I never was a fan of mmorpgs, other players screaming LAG kinda ruined the rp for me.

especially now that even big studios can barely support one mmo
i doubt any one can really compete with lucasArt/BioWare The Old republic and Blizzards new upcoming rpg

i must say lucasArts doing an amazing work as far as lore goes and rich worlds
here is one of the things they do, a background story for ppl to dive in to their world:
http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/timeline/timeline1

i am even tempted to look into this game even thou i generally dislike MMO and not such a huge fan of starwars

The storyline is great, but I'd have to see the gameplay in action before it would convince me.

Zakc, before you bumped up this old thread there was already an http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1011034 on V13.

Since Interplay may loose the Fallout license it's quite possible that V13 won't be a Fallout MMO, but the thread can still be used for more general discussions of a Fallout MMO's viability.
