I don't really like the old Fallouts :/ I believe however it would most likely bring more fans to the old games.

when I say clean I just mean taking the game and wiping the dust off a little. don't clean the wasteland but there are areas especially in fo2 where a little bit of a wash wouldn't hurt like during the night maybe clean it a bit. don't make it brighter but fix the circle of daylight a tad and add a couple of ghoul colors say yellow for instance.

I like both the old Fallout and the new FO3... except that the new one isn't really like Fallout at all... so I would have preferred them not using the Fallout name or number sequence; or if they just had to use the name for some reason, then use it in conjunction with an obvious differentiation from the series. If you think about it... quite a lot of their intended market doesn't like what Fallout is, and only likes what they applied from Fallout to their TES style FPS exploration game; so what is the real value of the name to those that dislike it? Doesn't that seem [in a way] to be a bit like advertising broccoli to those who don't like broccoli(?), but then assuring them that it's not real broccoli, it's more like... broccoli shaped marzipan... but then you get the disbelief from those that came expecting broccoli [as per the name], when given confections instead.

What does the Fallout name bring to the deal, if the average consumer doesn't equate Fallout with something they like? (Granted: Now they equate the name Fallout with Bethesda's FO3.)

I would be worried that an HD remake of the game would require enough effort that they would change quite a bit more than just sprucing the graphics a bit. :sadvaultboy:

I'm presuming Beth uses the Fallout name primarily for the assets exclusive to the series like Ghouls, super mutants and so on and using the already established story/universe as a base to make they're own post-apocalyptic narrative. But yeah I agree it's almost paradoxical that they use the name of a series that people would treat abhorrently when met with TB, isometric perspective and actual consequences (prior to Fallout 3)

I would love a hd remake, Bethesda would have to make it huge though.

What if they remade Fallout 1 & 2? Would you like it if the earlier games played like F03 & FONV? Would they be able to sell it?

Welcome back Lotsofcaps.

As for the game, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Hell, I still play the old classics on Steam.

No, I wouldn't like it because they would not play at all like they were originally designed to, which is how I prefer them (and would've preferred the new iterations too...).

The playstyle of 3/NV doesn't suit the old games, but maybe if it was actually done (which I doubt it would and which I don't care for) it could convince me.

This comes up a lot and no. I wouldn't buy it. You can play the games just fine today and they are cheap.

Remaking them would ruin them. Just leave them alone.

Yeah, this idea has popped up disturbingly often lately. What's with all this fixation in remakes?

No, I wouldn't like or buy them. Just because it could be done doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Seems silly to just take two games that were beloved for what they were and remake them into something they're not.

I would lose all respect for Bethesda if they did this. I'd give it a 60% chance they 'streamline' it for new/casual players

i would buy them ,

Thou i have problems understanding why some people flatly refuse such a idea

the originalm Fall out is almosr 15 years old and to honest looks so outdated it hurts and is a pain to get wit working properly , not to mention that with todayds pc and console performance you could so much expand those games

nor can i understand this idea that those old awkward game interface and mechanic are prefered to what we had in TES IV and V and in FO 3 and FO NV

They really feel awkward and overcomplicated you know

I also remember the golden decade of PC gaming foundly , but one can not deny games have bedome more and more impressive in how they look and perform on todays pc s and console

i do not think we will ever see a remake tho

Are you out of your mind ?

It is one of the rare games that could be easily installed with any operating systems, even without the patches.

It is the very exemple of what every devellopper/publisher on earth should do to make sure their games remain compatibles.

Anyway, there is already a thread for that. We won't gonna repeat the same things over and over every weeks. It get quickly tiresome.

Too much would be lost in translation like atmosphere for example. Then totally changing the gameplay would be redesigning it more than remaking.

I'd be all for a HD remake as in keeping the same game but just improving some technical areas like visual fidelity with trophies/achievements and putting them on PSN/XBL.

I do not think it can be done legally. Beth now owns the franchise but Interplay still own FO1, FO2, FOT and the “burned game”.
