Fallout 4 1.4 Patch Infinite Load Screen

Post » Sun Mar 13, 2016 11:37 pm

Like the title suggests, since the 1.4 Patch, Fallout 4 has become plagued with Infinite Loading Screen issues. I'm sure I am far from the only one affected by this, and after several hours (and a complete delete and re-download on steam) I have run out of solutions other than running the game in windowed borderless mode and alt tabbing every time I exit a building. (almost every time I exit a building....infinite load screen).

I have disabled the Nvidia Streamer Service and all that like many forums suggested and no amount of reinstalling and tweaks seem to be working. Anyone know a workaround or fix other than alt-tabbing, and how wide spread is this issue? Bethesda needs to know so they can patch this before all the DLC gets released. Definitely don't want to be alt tabbing my way through Far Harbor......

Windows 10 64-bit

Processor: Intel Core i7 5820k @3.30 ghz

RAM: 16 Gbs RAM

Graphics: Geforce GTX 980 4GB VRAM

Mods: None at all, never installed any.

Might be worth mentioning, I had zero issues for 125 hours of gameplay before the 1.4 patch..... This infinite load screen issue began after the patch was installed. And I also deleted all saves when I uninstalled it and re-downloaded it and started a new game entirely, still not fixing it.....My bets are 100% on the 1.4 patch.

Well, i believe you - but I'm on 1.4 patch too and haven't any infinite loading screens.

And i use an Nvidia too, and haven't any mods either.

Any suggestion what it may be, except the 1.4 patch?

No idea, Kind of at my wits end here. I know I can't be the only one. I guess I'll just try re-downloading the game yet again and see what happens eventually. Do you have your game in windowed borderless mode?

happened on my old save, then tried a new game and it continued. So then I deleted everything, uninstalled Fallout, then re-downloaded it on steam and started a new game and its still doing it. Now I just tried deleting the data folder and fallout.ini's then did a integrity of game cache check and its downloading the deleting items, gonna see if that helps, maybe I got a bad download or something. Because it seems some people are having this issue since the 1.4 patch and most apparently aren't having this issue....

and that didn't work... Besides Alt Tabbing to desktop and then back to my game, I guess it will remain in infinite load screen...... Guess that ends me playing fallout 4 until its fixed..... 125 hours of playing with zero issues and now the games broken. Whether I delete and re-download and start a new game or play in windowed mode..... Thank you 1.4 patch....

I've been getting them since 1.3. No problems before that. I'm not sure if it's related to the number of in game hours or not, i.e. another Bethesda save game bloat issue. My character is level 76 or so. (300+ hours) I haven't tried starting a new game to see if there are any issues there. I've tried keeping my saves down to 3 or 4, like some other forums suggested, but nothing.

Very disappointed to not see this under the official bug list I read in that other subforum. It's frustrating to the point where sometimes I don't even want to play. IIRC, there were at least two other threads about this on this forum.

I have almost the same setup. i7, 12gb ram, and nvidia, but mine is GT730.

Can you upload your save somewhere? See if others are getting the same.

FIXED..... Thank god, Turns out if I don't have ambient occlusion on it does the infinite load screen. Funny the higher I put my graphics options, the more stable this game is..... So anyone getting this issue, if your ambient occlusion is off, you need to turn it on. Thanks anyway everyone!

Do you have ambient occlusion on in your Nvidia control panel?

If you have it ON, in your Nvidia Control panel and OFF in the Fallout 4 options nenu, it could be the case of your problem.

I simply mention it....

Thank you for putting me in the right direction. I've been looking for a fix for this since 1.3. I tried fiddling with the settings on both programs, and the only way I got it to work was to turn ambient occlusion off in both menus. And it makes sense, because 1.3 is when they made ambient occlusion settings an option.

Another "feature" from Bethesda.

I was hoping that since it had something to do with shadowing (from what I read) it would fix the black texture problem, but no such luck.
