Alright, I'm well aware that FO1 needs some sort of fix to play nice with Windows Seven, an I'm just wondering where the most reliable source to get the supposed "hi-res patch" would be, if that's the one i need at all. Any tips or sources on where to go or what to do would be most appreciated. Right now I'm looking at the one found at "No Mutants Allowed". But I'm not sure I want to go for that one if there is something better out there. Please, Fallout veterans, help me. I just don't want to tack something damaging or half assed onto the game.

NMA is the best source for Patches and Fallout Mods, and well any fallout files.

If its not there (or at least a link to it in a news article or something), its not worth talking about.

I recommend: the hi-res patches for Fallout 1 and 2 that you've already found, Killap's unofficial patch for Fallout 2, http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Sfall by Timeslip (maybe), and a fanmade patch for Fallout 1 (also maybe).

I use the hi-res patch from NMA on my 1280x800 laptop screen and it works just fine.

Okay, I installed a patch that did absolutely nothing to help me. Now I've got a bunch of extra garbage in my Fallout directory that's made changes to it. Exactly what I feared to begin with. Could someone please post a link to something that will clear up the color corruption and black screen effect? I'm new to all this, new to the internet, and I just learned what a directory is ten minutes ago. Please, help.

The color problem doesn't go away right after installing the hi-res patch. You have to go to options and click the new "SCRN" button and set the colors to 16 bit, then restart the game.

Alright, Hi-res patch is working now, and Iv'e gained valuable knowledge on how to do this stuff in the future. Could anyone tell me if they found a way to fix the screen flicker effect, though? The game is playable due to the patch, but now the screen flickers black constantly and it's really annoying. (BTW, thanks to everyone who's posted for your advice. The game is really cool so far (five minutes into actual play), besides the flickering.

I just downloaded the patch and restarted the game but I don't see a SCRN button under options. Where is the button you are talking about?
