Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition Not making more because of quality

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 4:17 pm

Had they gone with the art book/soundtrack options for a collector's edition, that would've been a different startup cost compared to the plastic Pip-Boy, so they could afford to offer larger quantities. Not to mention they'd also be doable for a Digital Deluxe version.

I don't understand why people wait a long time before preordering and then complain when they are too late. Assuming money is not an issue, whether you wanted a Pip Boy Ed. or not when it was announced should have been a quick decision. I got my preorder a few hours after the presentation with zero problems because when I saw the Pip Boy Ed., I knew I wanted it.

Sadly, I had to cancel my preorder because I have an iPhone 6+, but that's another issue.

Most people can't pre-order on the spot due to financial issues and concerns. Not everyone has $119.99 to throw around frivolously. Therefore some people HAVE to wait to make sure they will have the money to actually pay for it. The pip-boys were sold out HOURS after release which screwed over a lot of people.

So it's not because people waited too long, it's because Bethesda didn't make enough and underestimated the popularity of Fallout.

It was announced on the Sunday, I ordered my Pip-Boy Edition on Wednesday evening. So your statement that they were sold out in hours is wrong. Plus I didn't have to pay the full £100 at the time of ordering, just a £20 deposit. The balance will be taken the week before release.

I think Bethesda had said very clearly that making more copies was not something

they could easily do without compromising the quality of the product.

So grumbling about 'not making enough' doesn't seem very reasonable,

they made the number they felt they could.

It would seem the Pip Boy edition and Fallout Shelter have both surpassed expectation.

I hope the game itself does live up to the hype that's pumping round...

Every retailer rolled it out the CE and charged differently. Gamestop US offered it Monday evening online only and sold out in less than three hours. I got lucky and got in on the Bethesda store after a restock but was charged the next day in full. By the time I got my Amazon alert they were gone, so you and I got lucky and wanderingsurvivor didn't. I will say I pre-ordered Skyrim at least a week after announcement and didn't have any issues. I am starting to think Fallout 4 could be a bigger seller than Skyrim. . .I can dream :fallout:

What's any of this have to do with the quality of the item? The quantity is the issue isn't it? Or is the OP saying if they make more the quality of the item will go down somehow? Honestly the thing looks pretty cheap to me anyway. It's not even of the quality that a true cos-player could use it.

I just want to see an edition with a bobblehead or map or deck of cards (assuming there's a card game in the game ... maybe baseball cards?), etc. That I'd love to get. Otherwise I'll just be downloading it from STEAM.

Limited edition doesn't directly translate to rare or limited copies, it could also simply mean only available for a limited time until production is ceased which are not the same

Aside from that why would they stop when demand is so high. Do they not want more money, as I assume they are making profit on these and not breaking even or losing money because that would make no sense

Yeah, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the content of the Pipboy Ed, I always prefer a more "classic" edition with statue, soundtrack, lore book, etc.

Anyway, I have a feeling the Pipboy won't be the only special edition, if Skyrim is any indication there was a second "collector" edition that came one year later: http://photos05.redcart.pl/templates/images/description/9417/Image/nowy/the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim_premium_edition_screen_001.jpg. Lore book, t-shirt, postcards, nice sturdy box. I think Fallout 4 might get one re-release as well sometime between next year and the GOTY edition.

The Pipboy is enough to moisten any fan. It comes with a pretty cool looking poster, steel box, the box it comes in looks classy, and I think there were a few more things it came with.

It's also a "Limited Edition" so who's to say that a new collectors edition won't be announced end August or early September?

Basic economics. They probably bugeted a finite amount of money for the pip boy edition. The only way to increase the amount of items produced is to decrease the cost of producing the item.

The point isn't the quality. Good or bad, with it being a licensed item by Bethesda, it'll simply be worth more than what your average cosplayer makes. The limited quantity makes it more rare. I'm glad they're doing this-- because I got one and it's exciting.

I feel the same GnR Croc! Whats the point of a "limited edition" if % 50 of us have one. The statement " The early bird gets the worm" comes to mind.

I hope so, that's one helluva nice edition. Just replace the t-shirt with a radioactive shirt/cap that's glowing in the dark

No matter what i will get a copy of the pip-boy edition i have enough money to pay 500 for the ebay version, but really in my mind the picture in the e3 looks like a very real pip-boy something are government might look at one day and be like look boys its your army boy 2000 and your all getting one. :fallout: I actually don't care really for the pipboy, your going to think this is weird but im only in for the steel case not the pipboy.

I would like that, but by then I would have owned and have been playing the game for a year. I really don't need two copies of the game. Now if I could buy all that 'stuff' without the game, I would do that. A collectors edition 'upgrade' maybe. But yeah that's the kind of stuff I'd be looking for. That pipboy does nothing for me.
