Fallout 4 poor PS4 performance (unconfirmed)

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 2:48 am

So there has been early reports from those who received the game early that the PS4 version is having some severe frame rate drops into the single digits during particular situations. I'm not going to link anything because embargo's and so on, but please do your own research before posting in this thread. Do you think these issues are genuine and do you think PS4 players have anything to worry about? I'd be seriously disappointed if Bethesda never learned from the disastrous Skyrim launch on PS3.

It's already been confirmed drops to 15fps alot in loading new area's or in combat. Not sure about xbox one version. I guess Bethesda just can't make a game ever for playstation that works.

Now I though that with this console generation that the PS4 is now easier to develop for and slightly more powerful so there would be no good reason at all for it to perform worse than the Xbox One version because if that's the case then everyone will know that Microsoft slipped Bethesda some extra cash to make the PS4 version inferior.

I don't think Bethesda want's that kind of controversy especially with the PS4 being the leading console with the biggest user base right now.

Someone's on a mission about it because I'm seeing people post this 'news' into youtube comments streams

even when the video is only slightly to do with Fallout 4.

Reviewers have had this game for a week (?).

If there are issues, I'm sure they will mention it tomorrow when the reviews drop.

I don't think they care, they have been in Microsofts pocket for years, I think most PS4 owners knew we'd get stuffed again. its Skyrim mk II.

People have had the game for over a week and this is the first we're hearing of it. Wait until you get your hands on it and see for yourself.

... Oh hell no, after the horror of FO 3 and NV on PlayStation 3 I really hope not. Once I hit the fifty to sixty hour mark they both became unplayable on my PS3.

hardcoe gamers expect perfection so any drop in frame rate is like a huge issue to them.

Me, being somewhere Inbetween hardcoe and casual, I'm not too bothered if it's offline.

I don't care about frame-rate fluctuations to an extent but if it's anything on the level of Skyrim soon after release on PS3 the game becomes almost unplayable until it's patched.

As others have said, the game hasn't even released yet. The reasonable thing to do is wait until then and when some reviews come in before coming to any conclusions.

Even more so, this isn't the first game to suffer from frame rate issues on the PS4, as The Witcher 3 had it as well for a time (or if they still persist, I haven't kept up with the news on that). And even if it does have frame rate issues, that alone isn't going to put it on the same level of issues as Skyrim on the PS3.

Again, we just have to wait and see.

not really they still use openGL compared to DirectX on Xbox 1 and PC ,which was the core of the problems last time on PS3.

All those claims are fake of overly dramatic.....I've seen the videos and at one point I thought the fps allmost dropped to a 28 lol. People have been playing this for weeks and everyone was happy......why do you think these drastic headlines are being fabricated now? Because clickbait that's why......nothing better for clicks that panicked [censored].

Since it isn't released yet there is no way to tell. And in fact we don't know if there will be a day one patch or one in the works even if what they are reporting is true.

That said, after release if there are issues, report the appropriate software and hardware section of the forum. Until then, it's speculation.

Digital foundry did a video saying PS4 was most stable console version. Less framerate drops and stutter's in complex area's Both look the same visually.

Here you go not sure what the cause of stutter on xbox one is at 2:05.

I seen this vid plus alot of gameplay and I think the game looks pretty fast and smooth but it is just a video after all. This video by DF said it is testing with the day one patch also which may be true because of this: http://gearnuke.com/fallout-4-rather-short-day-1-patch-ps4-xbo-requires-41-gb-install-full-game/

looks like a 500MB patch on PS4. If the lowest dips are to 25 fps I don't think we'll even notice a difference from 30 at all, but if were getting dips like 15 to 20 then ya maybe....further patches will be needed, i guess.....but I must add that with the tons of gameplay I've seen I know this is going to be an excellent title from BGS.

The PS4 seems pretty stable at the 25 to 30 range and never bellow 23 which is a-ok in my book. Xbox One seems fine too but there were some issues they mentioned about it I didn't see like 0 fps at one point....those sound more concerning. But remember.....we don't have the day one patch yet, that will likely fix a lot: https://twitter.com/bethesda/status/663857810447314944

At any rate I am content to have been right and now vindicated that the reports of PS4 problems were largely exaggerated and fake.

On mobile so can't quote, but are we really trusting Pete Hines like he's never lied about BGS products?

I agree on wait until you play, but specifically saying "Dennis isn't significant, let's trust pete " Isn't gonna float
