Possibly a guess by them, although it's around the date I think people expect.

Gut feeling, Oct 23rd is probably the date due to the great war, much like Skyrim for that 11-11-11, hopefully the game has been given enough time to be debugged as best as possible.

It's going to release this fall unless it gets delayed. Its the same as any other Bethesda release, E3 demo, fall release.

Games used to predominantly release on Tuesdays, but recently they pretty much come out any day but Sunday. So I wouldn't be shocked to see it come out on a Friday. In fact I'd dig that. I get paid on fridays and have weekends off work so I can just lock myself away and play :3

Fair enough, but the fact remains that a release date that isn't on a Tuesday is not in any way typical.

What's up with tuesday and releases? Did the games industry make some big poll about which day is best to release your game on for some reason?

Well back when games were still competing with movies for getting people to spend their disposable income I would imagine releasing on a friday--a day when all major motion pictures come out--was considered financially unlikely.

Now that the Game's industry is matching, and even outpacing, the Film industry that practice isn't as prevalent.

The only release date that can be trusted is one that is announced by Bethesda. All other release dates are guesses.

all the north american sites i've checked are listing 12/31/2015, but i'm thinking that's a placeholder date because the release date hasn't been announced yet. maybe all they've been told is "some time this year", or maybe that's just what they're thinking.

Fallout 3 was released on October 28th and New Vegas on October 19th, so an October release date seems most likely. I REALLY hope it's October 2015 and not 2016...

It's probably just a place holder, but my Gamestop receipt says Dec. 31st on it.

October 2016 is to far away. They wouldn't hype us up this much and make us wait a year and half. It makes no sense.

Oh just wait, by the time September rolls around and we have more info and screenshots and trailers? People will be begging them to delay the game to ADD MOAR. FIX MOAR BUGS.

It's going to be delicious.

I wouldn't mind another Friday release. It sure made Skyrim memorable. Having all weekend for Fallout 4 would be so great.

Funny how this happens with every release.

Every store uses a made-up placeholder date until the real one is announced by the publisher.
