isn′t that pretty much the prediction for any game with a fanbase?

Reminds me of the infamous CoD boycott that happened once, there's a pic showing over half the people in the boycott steam group playing the game day 1.
I suppose we could have a similar situation to Fallout 3 vs Skyrim. If I remember correctly, both had roughly the same map size but Skyrim's seems a fair bit bigger due to the added verticality. With the Commonwealth being a lot more intact than the Capital Wasteland, this could perhaps translate through an increased and varied number of building interiors.
That being said, I can't see Fallout 4's map not being at least, say, 20-25% bigger than Fallout 3's.
Todd said at one point that he thinks Skyrim's map size was "the sweet spot". So, I doubt its going to be significantly larger.
Damn, he settled for a very small sweet spot then. The Witcher 3 can swallow a few Skyrims already.
It's actually only 20% larger then Skyrim in total area. But it covers a larger geographical area due to scaling.
Not to mention how utterly barren Witcher 3's map was.
Fallout is better served with vaster desolation between places. Fallout 3 felt like a zoo and New Vegas overly compressed despite trying with more sand.
Sometimes, in games like this, solitude is the players best friend. As after some, every contact feels better and wanted.
I thing they have in store a evolutionary system to interact with npcs: euphoria, hold hands, kissing, push and pull, immobilize with hands, immobilize with legs, direct your own gaze to a npc and threaten, ect. And this will apply to liefeless objects too. It will just be showcased now like the Radient AI before Oblivion and it will fully realize in next TES.
I agree with this 100%. This is why I'm hoping that the map is perhaps even a little larger, to allow for more desolation. Ideal setup would be the total opposite of Oblivion's "walk five feet and trip over a cave".
How lewd.
But anyways, on the topic of the maps size, my opinion is basically the same as Chris A's

You forgot farting. Peter Molyneux has been far beyond Bethesda already in 2004.
5 1/2 hours to go. Pretty hyped to see what they got in store
A very interesting read, thanks for the link
I especially like his reference of turning mundane locations into dungeons, this was always far more unnerving from a gameplay perspective, and it created some truly terrifying moments. Also with the idea of always having at least 3 things on the horizon, I like to get really deep into the whole role-playing experience and I never fast travel. I love the discovery of the Capital Wasteland, and a hazy structure on the horizon gives us something new to strive for. And there are always interesting things to find along the way. As long as the sense of openness and discovery and the feeling that we are truly alone is not lost in translation, then I suppose the map size is irrelevant.
Pretty much what I was refering to
Personally with the rummors flying around...really hoping their wrong.
Most of the supposed rumors and leaks have been proven wrong, and what little they did get right, such as Boston, has been heavily speculated since Fo3 released.
Given that Fallout 3, and its DLC, listed the C.W., The Pitt, The Commonwealth, The Broken/Crater Banks, and Ronto, as the 5 major powers/regions in the east, and that we got the C.W. in Fo3, The Pitt in a DLC, and The Commonwealth in Fo4, there's basically zero chance Fo5 wont be in either Ronto or the Broken Banks.
Though I suspect Ronto may be Fo4's version of The Pitt DLC. Making the Broken/Crater Banks the most likely option for Fo5, but that's a long way off.
Man, Fable 3 took hand-holding too literally.

I know it's about graphics, but this teethless dude always cracks me up.
This pic is basically how I feel the whole "what color should we use" discussion in Bethesda offices went

Ah hell. Another 2 hours. I didn't see it was Pacific time.
lol... that's funny. It needs one more pic with caption "Fallout 4 has too many colors".
I am personally waiting for the
Random person :"The C.W. wasn't developed/civilized enough"
Todd Howard: "You want development and civilization? I'll give you development and civilization"
[insert pics of Boston here]
Random person: "Waa Boston is too developed/civilized!"
picture.
