Fallout 4's E3 presentation. How will it go? [merged]

All I know is the Gamespot feed is annoying as all hell. I'm definitely not watching through them because it seems like I would be listening to them instead of Bethesda.

I have high expectations and I'm sure Fallout 4 will be a solid entry if anything else. Nitpickers and critics with way too much time on their hands will critique and complain about silly, miniscule crap that most other gamers wouldn't care about. I'm fine with the graphics that was shown in the first trailer. Fallout 4 will most likely be added to my gaming library once the GOTY edition is released.

Gamespot is a shadow of its former self. That site went to hell with all its "upgrades" and technical mishaps. Even the comment section for the news articles now svck.

Best place to watch the stream is on their youtube or twitch channel.

It's not silly nor miniscule crap to expect a little more consistency in the series, and criticize it's shortcomings so long as it's in a constructive manner. It's also not so far fetched that some member/fans want Fallout to remain a little more true to the spirit of the originals.

That said, far too many people that I have seen, and still do see, continue to post what routinely comes across as anything less than a complete return to the originals (iso/turn based play) is a complete failure of Bethesda's handling of the series, and yet another example of their inability to do the franchise justice.

My opinion? Yes, I'd like a little more consistency in the series, and a little less whimsically throwing things in the game because it's cool...but then, I ask the same thing from TES as well. It's not going to hurt if they take a few hints from Black Isle/Obsidian and incorporate some of their fine ideas into future Fallouts. Of course Beth will make the games as they see fit, and TBPH, under their leadership, (so far) it's been a pretty big hit, and most likely will continue to be so.

I voted the fourth option, and I do hope I'm proven wrong. I really hope that I'm going to see something that will blow me away. :)

This right here that way I don't have to hear other people's bullcrap. Let's face it: A good number of these "journalists" (and I use this very lightly) don't know diddly and seem to make up stuff on the fly to get more clicks.

Valid critiques like lacking gameplay performance, control schemes, the HUD, menu options, etc should indeed be critiqued. 1080p, resolution debates and side by side graphics comparison videos are examples of miniscule nitpicks. Especially when the PC will always win in that debate.

Even the whole demand for removal of 'essential NPC's' is nothing new in the RPG feedback. Sure there are some NPC's in Skyrim I wanted to send to Sovengarde like Maven Black Blair in Riften, but it didn't ruin my gameplay.

I'm all for tweaking and improvements and not just adding features just because it's a cool idea. If anything Bethesda should pay more attention to the modding community who seems to out perform Bethesda when it comes to patches, add ons and sometimes even DLC quests.

Most likely because modders are not working under timetables and deadlines. But still, I understand Fallout 4 has been in the works ever since Oblivion was released. That's a long time to not have things in order.

45 min to go and nearly 4.5 million people on Beth's twitch.

FO3 was 3.3 sq miles(smallest of Beth's open worlds) while Skyrim was 5.7. If FO4 is the same size as Skyrim then that is nearly double and plenty enough for me.

i'm a modder dude, i calculated the sq footage myself.

128 game units(GU) = 6ft
Each cell in Oblivion,Fallout 3 and Skyrim is 4096x GU
128GU /6 ft= 21.3~GU
1ft=21.3~ GU
4096/21.3=192.3004694835681 ft
192.3004694835681 ft x sqr'd =36979.47056360071 sq ft per cell
1 sq mile = 27878400 sq ft
27878400 sq f/36979.47056360071sq ft=753.8885650634763 cells make one square mile

OB's Tamriel world space contains 13396 cells(4600-4800 playable)
13396 cells/ 753.8885650634763 cells(1 sq mile)=17.76920439013699 <--entire world space is 17.7+ sq miles
4800 cells/753.8885650634763 cells(1 sq mile)=6.36~ sq miles
Oblivion has less than 6.4 sq miles playable area.

Fallout has 2500 playable cells at the same size:
2500 cells/753.8885650634763 cells(1 sq mile)=3.31~ sq miles
Fallout has just over 3.3 sq miles of playable area.

SK's Tamriel world space contains 8460 cells(4326 playable)
8460/753.8885650634763(1 sq mile)=11.2218176426216 <--entire world space is 11.2+ sq miles
4326/753.8885650634763(1 sq mile)=5.73~ sq miles
Skyrim has just over 5.7 sq miles of playable area.

I just picked 'worried'. Honestly just the changes from OB to Skyrim were pretty significant, and all in the wrong direction IMO. I expect the consoles to be catered to more than ever with the next gen's in play so the majority of the changes I don't see being PC friendly and more geared to the CoD crowd.

Guess I'll know in about an hour.

Don't care what those numbers say, they are wrong. The player character is 128 GU in height and that is what I am basing my measurements on. I have made maps for OB, FO3 and Skyrim and calculated the playable cells using the Construction set, GECK and Creation Kit. I know what i'm talking about, trust me.

Edit: should be noted however that my playable cell count is ONLY for the main overland and does not include interior cells or separate world spaces cloned from the main worldspace.
