Fallout 4's E3 presentation is over. How DID it go?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:19 pm

Looks really good, with one personal taste issue: house/settlement building. I really don't care for this, I'll probably do it on one character to see what it's like and to get the likely associated achievements, then never do it again. Maybe build a house for myself, that'll be all.

I dont think its a retcon really.

Zimmer explicitly said in Fo3 that Harkness was THE most advanced model ever made. It makes sense that the lower/more basic models would be more obviously robotic.

They dont need to make the basic laborer robots look human now do they?

The dialogue wheel and a forced character voice pretty much soured me on Fallout 4. Then they started talking about mobile games and I switched off completely.

At least there's Dishonored 2, that was a nice surprise.

Looks like a game I will end up playing for a while, not going to say if it is good or bad yet. As for their entire conference I thought it was pretty good. Having Fallout 4 there can sort of blind one (or the entire internet) about just how good the conference was, but it wasn't anything mind blowing. It just brought up the whole "Did these people win E3" like it is some sort of competition.

I thought the vault game actually looked kinda cool, except they went with apple so i don't know if i'll even get to play it. Todd even said that the phone as pipboy was gimmicky crap, but still a neat looking gimmick. And i wish i was better at stealth games, i svcked so bad at dishonered i was kinda forced into murdering everyone for the bad ending

Tell Bethesda that, with the removal of traits, skills (seemingly) and the fettered dialogue options a bag of bricks may be a compliment in their eyes.

Mostly good.

If anything I'm a little overwhelmed with the crafting. I'm not that creative so ... Same with house design. Skyrim wasn't much of a problem, but this looks like it requires are lot more creativity. Hopefully there are some finished houses I can just live it. Making a whole settlement though ... damn.

I have given up hope for some of the things that I want in a Fallout game. Complicated dialogue, meaningful skills, etc. But I do admit, this looks like an amazing game. I'm sure I'll love it. But it's not what I've been looking for in a Fallout game. I'll just have to look to the past for that, but hey, that's not so bad.

Voiced dialogue is at least better than Skyrim dialogue, which barely even existed. As much as seeing the voiced protagonist felt just sick and wrong, at least it isn't gonna be Skyrim dialogue. I do have concerns when it comes to having different character types, however. Similarly to Fallout 3, playing an evil character will likely be corny and out of place considering the background. So I'm guessing there will be fewer directions to take our character. That being said, having a character who was alive pre-war is at the very least a fresh idea, despite the vault and everything.

Voiced protagonist, Mass Effect/Witcher style dialogue, skills, and a fixed backstory is what has me worried as a RPG but as a game I thought the crafting, base building, and the weapon/power armor upgrades were a huge plus.

Just the bigger question right now is what the heck are they planning on doing with the skills?

They're ranked perks. We're probably either going to get a way higher level cap or more perks.

Might even be perks from 2 pools. Skill oriented perks and perk perks.

I can say that at least one of the "perks" from the SPECIAL/Perk poster in the pre-E3 trailer had an icon that looked exactly like the speech skill icon from Fo3 and NV.

When crafting Science was ranked(rank 1,2 usw.)that sounds more like it is perk and not skill based.

And there's probably one for barter too and others under the charisma umbrella. Expect something like "+5% persuasion chance rank 1/3", "+5% barter prices rank 1/3" etc.

I know "master trader" appears to be the first perk under the Charisma section, so its likely the new barter perk.

Being completely honest here... I cried.

I was so overwhelmed because they gave us so much more than I expected.

I always purchase Bethesda games so I know I will eventually buy it after it's been modded to oblivion. Truth be told it looks great, minus some things which will definitely annoy me in the long term (voiced character, UI [this will be modded out of course], no skills [although it could possibly be handled through more perks etc).

It doesn't look like a Fallout game to me but neither did FO3. It's a very fun action oriented RPG set in a post-apocalyptic gameworld. Sign me up!

Personally I was very impressed. I was actually said to see the footage end. I've been a longtime ES fan, but didn't get into fallout until 3. I have never been so impressed with something Bethesda has put out. They should all be very happy with themselves. Oh and I'm getting that pipboy edition lmao. I never get collectors editions either.

Well they talked about Doom 4, Dishonored 2, Fallout 4, and a free fallout app game.

I was really hoping for any word on an Elder Scrolls VI, but instead, we just get an expansion for the MMO. So I'm disappointed.

I'm worried that the elder scrolls games are done and all we will get are expansions to the mmo, rather than continuing the single player series.

we wouldn't logically hear anything about the next TES game until at least a year after Fo4 comes out.

Bethesda Game Studios only has like 120 in it, its one team.
