gamesas won E3. Yes, already. Everyone else can go home.
I'm getting it. Looks like they paid attention to some NV mods at least.
Not sure what to think of the voice acted character, but I'll deal with it.
I was anxious, now I'm just damn excited. Bethesda, as an old Fallout fan, I'm impressed.
I m mixed. I thought it looked good but the demo has me a bit skeptical. We shall see, I guess...
I have to say I was not expecting such a huge forward. We will see if they are able to maintain distinctness vs. modular playstyle, but very seldom do I see a presentation that goes so far beyond what I am going to expect them to show.
I voted for looks pretty good, worth the purchase.
Still I'm hoping there is armor and weapons degradation and no regenerative health.
I can't believe I will be purchasing Fallout 4. What has Bethesda Game Studios done to me?
Absolutely blown away.
I was one of the nay-sayers that was mistrusting of the effort Bethesda was putting into Fallout 4.
I was excited for XCOM more. It's not that way anymore.
What I liked: The Fallout 4 presentation.
What I didn't like: everything else ResidentSleeper
Here, I have a small list of my thought:
Pros:
-Crafting looks promising. Something as simple as taking screws from little items just gives everything in the world more depth.
-The basic game mechanics of FO3 seem to be pretty much in tact. SPECIAL is alive, so is VATS. Hopefully the same can be said for the skills and perks (and traits...?)
-Graphics do look better than they did in the trailer. The trailer somehow looked cartoony, the gameplay graphics look like the style I'd expect from Fallout
Neutral (new features that we simply can't judge until we experience):
-The world building or house building or whatever. This could hit or miss. I posted before about how I hope we don't get ADHD game design where they can't decide what game they wanna make; this does happen, so hopefully that isn't the case here.
-The weapon mods. Todd bragged about the amount of mods. This would be on the pros list for me EXCEPT Skyrim had the problem where they worried so much about making custom weapons viable that all other weapons became garbage, and a lack of balance with the enchantments (or mods here) meant all weapons ended up the same. The fact that only power armor can be customized makes me worry that balance may be subpar, for example.
Cons:
-The dialog. We are now Mass Effect. It doesn't look like an improvement to me at all, and I imagine voiced characters might hinder it too. I somehow struggle to picture speech or skill checks within this dialog system at all. Not that it can't be done, but I worry Bethesda axed it, and regardless I already don't like it's style. Preferred the old to a Mass effect style of speech options.
-I do worry about if there's focus and direction within the game. We were shown soooooo much. For example one sequence showed a vertibird shooting scene where you rode in it and manned a minigun. Pls no fly around and shoot stuff sequence.
-Killcams are hopefully not returning from Skyrim. I didn't like them, and a brief scene made it seem like they might.
Overall I'm honestly just more curious. I'm not blown away, satisfied or disappointed. There's nothing much to praise or criticize because much of what we were shown is new and we can't know if these new systems will be solid or not. The base mechanics we're familiar with look the same (cept dialog), all the rest was new. In best case scenario, Bethesda games just got more open-world in that there's more to do. In worst case, this'll be another "a mile wide, an inch deep" where poor balance and mechanics is covered up by....minigames on your pipboy. Just gonna have to wait and see.
Was completely blown away can't wait.
Pros
Customization
Teddy Bear Rocket Launcher
Character Creation
Armor is no longer a single piece
Vats is real time
Cons
Voiced Protagonist is not great
Skills have been gutted
Intelligence at 1st glance is completely useless
3rd Person walking/running animation looked horrible
Not a fan of the asethics of the UI
Probably more I could add to Pros or cons but that's all I could quickly think of.
Where did you see this? Either I missed it or you misinterpreted something.
Only negative I can see is Fallout Shelter is not coming out on android , but I was blown away
Just because they didn't show skills doesn't mean its removed.
Based on the presentation. That's not a game I'm looking for. It's a first person shooter open world simulation with a ton of fluff. I didn't really spot much of roleplaying game there so far.
It still lacked the finer details about how things work and what's the narrative going to be like, but... what was shown is nothing but an impressive technical presentation "We have this, this, this, this and even this here; and then some mobile apps!"
There wasn't a visible "skills" tab in the pipboy stats menu. Just stats and perks.
Looked good for the most part I'm excited, now they just need to give us a pricetag for the pipboy edition and let me pre-order it.
I am so glad that I limit the number of games I buy and play to just a few. I will be buying my new console and ordering the game soon. I honestly don't know how I will have time for anything else once I get it. I already waste my day at work surfing the forum and 'net for Fallout 4 news.
I'm really excited, but somewhat scared as well. Did anybody see that power armor with the jet pack on it? I'm not sure I'm a real fan of that.
And what is this bethesda.net thing? Is that where the forums are going to be from now on?
We do have the footage we can review. For example, when you highlight SPECIAL stats, they should say "raises Speech" and the like. Maybe he noticed it's absence?
Even if he's wrong, that got me thinking: How on earth would the Speech skill work now?
I was not expecting to be so blown away, were I to allow my wildest expectations and hopes go free at imagining what the presentation would show it would not have been half as great as what I saw. I have officially boarded the hype train.
