dude is your goberment. the price on steam change base on what taxes they charge.
Not only in Brazil and not only on Steam. The base game on the Xbox Store in Colombia is for the equivalent of 79 USD. I made a topic about this earlier today. It's just ridiculous.
It's OK if you don't, I'm not asking you to care. I just hope that Bethesda can look this up for us.
I talked to a Steam developer a bit before this. The conversion rates on Steam are still the same they were since last year. Which means that this price (R$ 249,00 and then R$ 229,90) were manually put by Bethesda. For example, take a look at recent games like "Metal Gear Solid V" or "Assassin's Creed Syndicate", which cost way less here, while both are also US$ 60 in the US.
EDIT: Sorry about your case too, laurensHD.
Import Taxes; Weak currency, 'nuff said. Yes, its 76.43USD in the currency exchange rate. Don't compare prices of a 2014 game which the BRL was worth twice as much as it is now.
MGS and Black Ops 3 are not last year games. This is happening also on the PSN and the Xbox Store, and also only with Fallout.
Oh, I don't disagree with that. I even mentioned the current economic climate. But why "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" or "Metal Gear Solid V" cost less, while both are US$ 60 games? I'm not comparing the quality, after all these are all different games, but the pricing strategy just doesn't make sense.
You COULD buy the digital PC version on Amazon, as it is only a code for Steam; that's what I'm going to do with the Xbox One version.
But that's not the point. Bethesda is going to lose a lot of sales in Latin America for this, which I hope it's only a mistake.
That is a good question. The issues is why are some games really cheap, and if CoD:BO3 is indeed 129.90BRL then it doesn't make sense, as thats only ~33USD.
Random discounts rather than overpriced game in Fallout 4.
A lot of people are going to wait for a price drop. Thing is, Bethesda might lose a few sales in Latin America (like laurensHD says below) because of this.
Yeah, that's a possibility. Still, there are more taxes for buying in Dollars. Not to mention that Valve doesn't encourage a direct conversion on Steam, which is why prices here are usually cheaper. Because our economic is different.
Almost every game that costs US$ 60 usually convert to something between R$ 120 and R$ 130 on Steam. This is because it's not a direct conversion. Valve has its own conversion system after a careful study of our economy and what we can afford. Some games go beyond that, like you can see on my list, but it is worrying that the only game priced above R$ 200 is Fallout 4. "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited" costs the same as "Wolfenstein: The New Order" and that was released this year, when the economy was already crazy. And then you compare to other AAA games from other publishers.
RobertoSAGuedes my heart goes out for you man but your new around here ill tell you way it works
Bethesda only really reads this fourm if at all(tends to very toxic here) so if looking for response you will never get it , but if your just trying draw attention then twitter might be better. ie pete hines hope helps man i thought 80 CDN was raw deal just goes to show you.
Don't buy the game from Steam, Steam is only any good at sale time. Tons of places around the internet to buy it from.
I talked to the support team who said that I should come here, haha. Who knows, maybe they'll see. Pete Hines hasn't responded to any tweet I've sent in the past about this, though. :/
