Fallout 2 problem

Post » Sun Apr 18, 2010 11:22 pm

Ok so yesterday I went a video game store for a browse and I happen across the original versions of Fallout 1 and 2. I got home and to my amazment the first Fallout worked after playing for roughly two hours I decided I wanted to try Fallout 2. I get to an install problem whitch I manage to fix but when I attempted to play it it came up that there was no disc in the hardrive! I tried for ages but still nothing worked, so the next day I went to my local store and they gave me the updated version. Yes I thought. I got home installed again and wouldn't you know the same problem! If anyone knows how to fix this bug or gliche or whatever It is I would really appreciate it.

First question: Do you own a laptop? Have Vista, perhaps? Regardless, the same thing happened to me. I'm not sure what I did to make it work cause I did around ten different things, so let's see...

-Clean out your computer. Uninstall all those games that you don't like anymore and defrag. That should fix the hard drive problem. Not that it did for me, though.

-Make sure you install the largest or a large portion of the game onto the computer. If you install F02 on its smallest setting there's a whole other problem with it not being able to find some file.

-Try running the executable in compatibility mode, and fiddle with all the settings of the game after you right click it.

-If all else fails, keep fiddling! You can't screw anything up.

Hope that helps.

Try doing a humoungus install, that shouldn't need the CD.

I forget how to do this bit myself, but I state it in the hope that it will jog someone elses memory, but theres a CFG file which has the location of the various game directories, check to make sure they're all correct.

Buy it off Good Old Games or get the triple-pack if you have Vista or XP and do not want to mess around with settings.
