Fallout 4 is recycled Fallout 3 !

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:59 am

You're welcome :D. The difference between the two isn't just graphical, the crafting system is much vaster than that of Fallout 3 or New Vegas.... The looting system seems to be revamped, especially since all the random junk we find is actually useful....and this is all we've seen so far in the little bit of footage we've seen.

Its really the shooting that impressed me the most, i'm glad they put more effort into it. I was a little afraid they would do the "zoom in" down the barrel of fallout 3 and skyrim's crossbow instead of having iron sights. I smiled like an idiot when i saw the town building part, i'm pretty excited to build my own settlement.

haha i wish fallout 3 ran on my pc, that actually made me want to play it pretty badly. Really shows off how much better the power armor is in 4.

The VG article was some of the worst journalism I've ever seen. It drew on one tiny point, which actually makes sense in being recycled, to say a mountainous game is completely recycled? Lol moving on

I hate Kotaku, but please, all the people who think Fallout 4 is a recycled Fallout 3, read this article http://kotaku.com/fallout-3-vs-fallout-4-in-screenshots-1712122808

In the old days of Ultima, Origin Systems would push the envelope on each new game, almost to the point that you needed a new computer just play it.

I don't think I want that kind of progress. The games don't need to be that far advanced to be fun... not for me anyway!

Pretty much this. This may come as a shock to some, but not every member of the PC Master Race? has thousands and thousands of extra dollars laying around to buy an all new, bleeding edge system every few months. I know I sure as hell don't . :)

Eh.... I played Ultima 1-5 on my Apple II+. Thing didn't really start to change much until 6 and 7. U6 supported 16-bit processors, sound cards, mice, and VGA graphics; and U7 went to mouse-focused & live-action gameplay.

I agree that's what I meant Kiralyn2000; thanks for putting a finer point on my recollection! :D

If people don't think it looks better after seeing these side by side comparisons ... what more proof do they need?

That's demonstrably not true  .

There's limited congruity and continuity between pretty much all the main series games (their worlds specifically), and New Vegas looks distinctively dissimilar to Fallout 3.

The VG article is disconcerting, when the mainstream press seems so phlegmatic towards Fallout 4 that's worrying.

I place nominal if any stock into articles pre-release, but I expected pretty much every account of the game to effusively praise it.

It's not a question of the right proof to coerce them. If they aren't convinced that the graphics have been updated by those comparisons then they are purposely avoiding the truth so that they can remain angry and whiny.

As far as a base game goes Fallout 4 looks amazing and I couldn't care less if they used the creation engine again. Many games recycle their engines and don't get the same flak Bethesda does. To me the graphics look amazing for Fallout and I am finally going to play a new Fallout game after 5 years of waiting. I am also happy that it at least looks newer than when New Vegas came out on the SAME old engine that Fallout 3 did. I can understand complaining about that but not Fallout 4. You guys should be happy Bethesda cares enough to put forth the time to bring us another Fallout game. :) On a side note, not to bring mods into the topic but............ You already know. :P

Anyone who says the game looks exactly like FO3 needs to get their eyes checked. For one, character model body proportions are entirely different. There is also a distinct pastel color palette.

But hey...Who am I to cool the fires on the Fandom Hate Machine?

I was specifically referring to the part where the article complained that the computer terminals looked the same as in FO:3. Why wouldn't they. Things like vault doors, computers, guns and such should look the same. Those types of things were very much alike in 3 and New Vegas.

To point 1 about 3 and NV, I felt they were similar enough that I felt I was in a Fallout universe.

As to your second, someone was bound to do a negative article. They want to stand out and generate more traffic to generate more ad sales. They create a "panic" among Fallout fans or people curious to see what could be so bad that someone would write an article about it. I won't be clicking on their story and helping the tactic succeed.

I'll admit after playing Witcher 3 i wanted a new engine with pretty graphics. Witcher 3 charcter models, animations, and seamless (no loading) world puts Fallout 4 to shame. That said I'm still excited because game play is what matters most to me. here's to hoping TES VI gets a new engine.

No.

Skyrim is not a recycled Oblivion, and so Fallout 4 will not be a recycled Fallout 3.

Bethesda's games each have different moods and unique locations and game mechanics.
