Fallout 3 release day

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:15 pm

Hello all. Im making this topic to see what everyone else was doing about 7 years ago on that beautiful october day. I was too young to have my own car that day and of course being the young gamer i was i rewatched all the trailers and gameplay footage. I was so freaking excited cause that was a first for bethesda. I made sure i had sufficient snacks and drinks ready and waited alllllll day for a ride to the game store to finally pick it up.

So what did you do that day if you remember and how is this release going to be different for you? I for one am sure as hell not gonna wait all day again, i got it pre-loaded this time.

At work - during my lunch break I went and picked up a copy of FO3 from Gamestop.

When I was done with work - I went home and played FO 3 and was GREATLY disappointed.

As an avid original fan of fallout going back to FO 1 - FO 3 was terrible(in my opinion).

FO NV restored my faith.

F0 2 > FO NV > FO 1 > FO Tactics BoS > FO 3

I was probably working same as I will be on this release. Games don't dictate my life and I certainly don't revolve around them. This game is honestly like every other one... a stepping stone to the next game.

I don't even think I knew Fallout existed back then.

I remember getting a heavy cold when I had just installed Fallout 3. Didn′t get it until 2012 though.

Playing World of Warcraft, being totally oblivious about Fallout 3 and too engrossed in WoW to have time for most other games.

I didn't pick up FO3 until after I played FONV.

I wasn't really a total Bethesda fan then being younger and all, despite loving Oblivion. I was more hyped about Fable II which released the same year. Always loved the Fable series... sad how it has become reduced to a free to play game.

I wasn't a Bethesda fan at that point (I was mostly into shooters at that time, and I didn't really care for fantasy-setting games like TES), but the E3 videos had caught my eye. I was impressed by the post-apocalyptic setting, the ability to create your own character, and the freedom to go anywhere. I decided on a whim to head over to a Best Buy near work during my lunch break and pick it up.

When I played it that evening, the first hour of the game in the vault didn't really grab me. I wasn't sure that this was going to be my cup of tea. That all changed when I got out into the wasteland. Fallout 3 consumed me for the next couple years, and became my favourite game of all time.

At the time I was sick with the flue and my parents got it for me, in which I loved it and played it until the disc wore out years later. I never played Fallout and did not have internet at the time so I had no clue what it was. My 360 was always offline and played all my games by disc, due to no internet. The only other Bethesda game I played was Oblivion. In 2012 we found out our phone company has a DSL service (allthough I know now it's very slow, it's better than not having it, and a lot better than dial up) in our out in the woods area and we jumped at it. Now I use an Xbox One and Multimedia Laptop and am so EXCITED for Fallout 4 it's insane.

"My name is Dragonmage360, and that's my Fallout 3 story." Compare the last bit of a Tires Les-Schwab commercial to my quote for how I changed words around.

Actually I don't remember. I don't think I bought it on release day, more likely on the weekend. But I do remember exiting the Vault for the first time, epic.

I was here, moderating the forum and very, very busy answering questions and moving threads.

Isn't that pitiful.

I didnt even know Fallout 3 was a thing. I was very busy at the time and everything Fallout 3 related i managed to completely miss.

It wasn't untill a friday evening, i was sitting behind my desk bored out of my mind with some free time, that i first saw a fallout 3 commercial after it already came out. I thought "well, what the helll?..." and on a whim i just went out to the only store that sells games still open at that time of night.

Came back, installed the game, was blown away and played Fallout 3 all throughout the weekend. Can you imagine? No tension, no hype leading up to release, just finding out about it after it's already out and being able to immediatly buy and play.

I was about 16-17 and my friend told me about it. I remember playing it after school in november and didn't like it. Tried it again after half a year and fell in love with it.

I was over at a friend's house playing Halo when someone put in Fallout 3. It was a single player game but we were all excited seeing the opening of it. We all argued over character creation, then tried to shoot people with the BB gun.

But that moment we stepped out of the vault... I was hooked.

My team and I were shacked up just off the Afghani/Pakistani border, & with six weeks + a wake up left on my contract, I was so short I could fast rope off a toilet seat.. :hehe:

We had a ps3 in the rec room and we got a copy of Fo3 in early November. :goodjob:

I got back five days before Christmas, and a month later I joined this place.. :disco:

I heavily into my work at the time. I had played the originals years before, but never knew that Bethesda had bought the rights and released a new game. I bought the game years later in 2011. But I won't miss the release date for FO4.:D

I didn't even know what fallout or Bethesda was.
I bought fallout 3 because I seen my friend playing it on Xbox live once and I thought I could play with them. That was like 2009/2010

I can't remember what I was doing, or my first run through of New Vegas, let alone Fallout 3.

7 years ago had never even heard of fallout. only discovered it while waiting for dishonored to come out. as they always do, steam put a bunch of titles by the publisher of an upcoming and anticipated game on sale. got FO3 for 9.99 I think, and only to kill time while waiting for dishonored. guess the irony is I ended up playing dishonored twice maybe, bout 60 hours while logging about 300 on FO3, and then another 400 on the GOTY edition I also bought on a sale to get the DLC's.
