I would love for Bethesda to remake Fallout 3 in Fallout 4 engine... just think about how awesome it would be to replay Fallout 3 in good graphics with updated gameplay and the voiced protagonist.

Yeah it's great how we have Physical Based Rendering in FO3 also the radiant quests are so great in the good old Fallout 3. The scripting is so flexible in FO3 it's unbelievable. Only to name a few of astounding features that Bethesda has in their games since Morrowind (it's always the same engine, isn't it? )
Or you are talking absolute nonsens. Which would be a possibilty too.
Ontopic: Because it isn't the same engine anymore because Bethesda made a lot of updates in Skyrim and now more in Fallout 4 too it won't be happen pretty sure. It's almost as they had to make Fallout 3 from the ground up again.
Well, it is the same engine and it isn't the same engine.
The engine is a highly modified version of what Morrowind used. Which can be said for every game BGS has put out since then. In that sense it is the same engine.
But with all the modifications that have happened to the code since there, there is probably very little of the original code left. It is pretty much like if you heavily modified a car to the point that only the hubcaps from the original are left.
As any other engine for games outthere as should be added too.
Skyrim was actually one of the biggest changes/updates Bethesda made to their engine. Looking at Fallout 4 there are pretty sure also a ton. We will know more once the new GECK is out, but dynamic navmesh as you need for settlement building is a very big change for example and a long way from simple navpoints in good old Morrowind.
I'd rather see an updated Morrowind before anything else.
But, I'm fairly confident we will not be seeing any of the older games rehashed on the newer (...updated) engine
Not gonna happen, fair and simple. They've got other things to spend their resources on (supporting TES:IV, their new studio in Montreal, and the new IP they're most likely doing)
That's like saying the original Unreal and the latest Unreal Tournament uses the same engine
I would LOVE to play Fallout 3 and NV on Fallout 4's new engine. I've mentioned this quite a few times already on the forum. Bethesda, please, I'll gladly pay you all over again for F3 and NV and all the DLC on the new F4 engine. Thank you.
As for the 'new engine' or 'not' debate, it is a different engine than Fallout 3 uses.
A simple search explains it all in detail. I'm not in to the whole 'link to prove you right or wrong' thing, just do a simple search for creation engine wiki.
In a nutshell, Fallout 4 utilizes an updated version of an engine written several years ago for Skyrim.
Pete Hines already said (can't remember exactly where and when) that they would not be doing this and they were effectively done with F3 when Microsoft offered to include F3 with a purchase of F4 for the xbox one.
For all intent and purposes the modified Creation Engine is new compared to the Gamebryo Engine used in both Oblivion and Fallout 3. While the Creation Engine is based on the Gamebryo Engine, the Creation Engine is considered to be the proprietary to Bethesda not Gamebyro. In other words, Bethesda likely paid Gamebryo a licensing fee to use Gamebryo Engine as the foundation for the Creation Engine. Bethesda thought the Gamebryo Engine was too restrictive and limited for their vision of Skyrim.
Simply saying Creation Engine and Gamebryo Engine are the same is like saying CryEngine 1, 2 and 3 are all the same engine. CryEngine 3 can draw it's origins to CryEngine 1, but it is a much more enhanced version of the original. On the other hand "CryEngine 4" has very little in common with the original CryEngine so much so that it is not referred to as "CryEngine 4" by the developer. The new game engine is simply called CryEngine.
I'd sooner they make awesome Fallout 4 DLC instead
Hmmm, lets see. Have BGS drop everything and update an older title, or leave the past where it belongs (in the past) and create something new for me. Give me a year or two to think about that.
You'll probably need the time waiting for the first DLC.
Tiny correction Gamebryo was always only used as middleware in Bethesdas own engine (like Havok, Speedtree, Facegen, ...). It got used less and less from game to game. It isn't much left of Gambryo in Fallout 4 (except the NIF fileformat).
I know it is not "exactly" the same engine, but it is funny how the SAME "particular" bugs seem to live in each of the updated engine versions (such as the physics bug where if your framerate is higher than your refresh you can end up "swimming" in the air).
I do not get enough chances to give accolades to Sesom, but the man knows his stuff especially when it comes to game engines. He is one of the major mod makers for Tale of Two Wastelands, if there was anyone that could tell you a quick yes no answer to; Can we have fallout 4 engine on fallout 3? it would be Sesom. He knows his stuff.
Anyways. It is a good thought though I really wish there could be a remake of fallout 1&2 to the modern system. Something I thought I would never say. That would require the whole game being re made from the ground up though, which is not logical perhaps for Bethesda.
Don't you mean Fallout and Fallout 2 remade on Fallout 4 engine?
Holy that's awesome! Yet, another reason Beth makes community friendly games. I also have to mention TTW!
I can play them? How? They are pretty broken on the PS3. Buying a PC and having the public fix them with mods isn't the answer.
Re-releasing older titles in HD are legitimate revenue sources for companies and there is a demand for it or they wouldn't waste time doing it. There's a lot of games being reissued.
