Fallout: Resource Wars

Sawyer has said during his time with Black Isle and currently with Obsidian that he would like to make a game set in 2060s soon after the Middle-Eastern war as member's of the Royal Armoured Corps stranded in war-torn anarchistic Italy and left for dead you would try to return back to the UK, the original description of gameplay was a Motorcross Madness-Battlefield 1942 mix but this idea has probably changed over time with the modernisation of gaming. With a saluaging element that allow's you to jury rig together/repair/strip weapons & vehicles it sounds like a good idea though it has been an idea since van buren it might get some more attention if people knew about it and it's not just an idea in a folder somewhere no one will find it.

Sawyer's a brilliant guy and an excellent writer (Arcade Gannon's storyline), but I feel that the pre-war world should be left as a "time before time" sort of setting. Give some clues to it, but overall keep it mysterious.

Plus that wouldn't be very "Fallout" to me. Fallout's supposed to be about humanity trying to resettle after nearly being annihilated from the face of the Earth. Through the rubble we move on and from the foundations of our forefathers, we build.

I agree with Volundarkvioa, Sawyer's a brilliant guy and an excellent writer but I think anything before the Great War of 2077 should be left in the "time before." I only want small hints and clips from the "time before" not an entire game.

I wouldnt like to see that has a fallout game.

However, if Josh Sawyer would like to revive "Twilight 2000" with a similar idea, I'd be right behind him.

Agreed with above. Fallout is all about the world after the bombs. Part of the great draw is the mystery of the past. If they delve into it too much, that magic fades. Little snippets like Operation: Anchorage are fine, but a whole game might ruin the experience. Still, many of those gameplay ideas world be great in a future Fallout game.

I doubt it's ever going to happen, or that many others agrees with me, but I think it's a cool concept. If done right, it could be a good game-even without the apocalyptic aspects. There were a lot of horrible things, that still effected the game after the Resource Wars and the Great War, going on in both the U.S. and other countries. I wouldn't expect it to be a main game, if it was developed, but it would be a nice spin-off sort of thing. And by then most feared/expected the apocalypse to come, thus having a large impact on culture and actions of an individual. More so, radiation/nuclear power began to be a common thing, it's not like it would be in our world right before it was nuked entirely.

Then there's the fact that Fallout isn't ONLY made up by the fact that it takes place in an apocalyptic setting; many actually complain about Bethesda because they say they failed to input some of those aspects. Dark humor and good/amazing storytelling/writing being among them. The setting is a big thing, but it's not the only thing.

Again, I really doubt it's ever going to happen. A theme to Fallout seems to heavily involve-whether it's to the majority of players, developers, others, or both-its setting. Which would be a post-apocalyptic, retro-futuristic U.S. So the likelihood of it taking place anywhere-or "any-when"-else is really, really unlikely. But I've always liked the idea.

The draw for fallout for me is the world. Past, present & future and the snippets of information you get is great as you learn about the state of the world and operation anchorage showed me the pre-war world and the actual theme of the US before the Great War and the mystery has got to the stage where i've got the clue's together and have an idea of the answer, i now need to find out if i'm right.

I couldn't really get with that, wouldn't it just be another human versus human warfare game????? (Something I tend to stay away from normally the only one thats tweaked my Interest is HomeFront) I've said this before, where would the monsters be, the ghouls the mutants etc etc I'm a monster killer at heart! I think if others want it then go for it but for me what would the draw to the game be????? Apart from Technology, Power Armour and suchlike whats gonna sell the game to me? I feel it should be left alone I don't think it would be Fallout as it has become and we all Love, it would be more like Operation Anchorage which wasn't for me the most inspiring DLC. I like the concept of trying to get back to the UK but thats about it. Will there be monsters in the game? Robot armies? May as well just play ME1 and Vanquish. Is it just another Warfare game with RPG elements? Looks like it from the description, well enjoy it if he makes! Not my cup of Tea really.
