Fallout Shelter won't start anymore

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 2:57 pm

After my phone ran out of memory mid game. The game now no longer loads my saved game. It makes it passed the first few opening overlay slides, then, when it appears to try and load or load the load screen, it crashes.

I have restarted my phone, closed all apps, flushed memory... Nothing. Will no longer load. I cannot even get to the Main menu to attempt to create a new game.

But what concerns me is that i have in-app purchases, I've bought lunchboxes and Mr Handy packages with this save and do not want to loose this money.

Please help Bathesda!!

There must be a way to recover this!!

Mine did the same thing: ran out of battery mid game and now it keeps closing. Unfortunately, I went into the android files to try and transfer my name and found that my save file was completely empty. D:

I don't know why mine is happening, but I haven't been able to play for weeks now. It first did this when I had 50 dwellers, then when I had 79, and now when I had 12 dwellers. It crashes and then just loads to the main picture and closes the app. Such a piss off... I love this game. I have now deleted it and started over several times and it's just a waste.

I am playing on an up-to-date iPhone 6, 64GB with 35GB available space. I play it with no other apps open and it's not even on the highest brightness. This "running out of memory" thing is ridiculous! My husband has the EXACT SAME PHONE and he has less free space than I do, and he has no issues at all!

I hope Fallout 4 isn't this [censored] disappointing. Every time an update is released for this game I get excited and hope it fixed things, and it never does. My husband has the EXACT SAME PHONE and he has less free space than I do, and he has no issues at all!

Maybe Bethesda should stick to writing games they can handle...

I'm having exactly the same issue. I'm loath to delete and resinstall after reading in the reviews of the app that the save game went missing (I bought 5 mister handies.) I've seen several posts saying people had similar issues, so I may just have to wait and see if its patched.

Also having this issue. Made 2 in-app purchases last night, went to sleep, game crashes at the 'PLEASE STAND BY' screen.

I tried transferring my save and files to a new install of the game on another device, and I get the same crash. It seems like the save may not be recoverable, in which case, I'll be needing a refund for my purchases.

Let's try and get some info collected here and help the devs expedite a solution. I'd prefer to not start over.

My device is a Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II, Model SCH-I415, running Android version 4.1.2.

Opposite with me. Prior to the August 13th patch, my Vault had repeatedly crashed when loading up, this had gone on for almost a month. After the August 13th patch, that same Vault now loads up like a charm every time.

Having the same problem. Moto x 2014 powered off during play, and corrupted the game save. Makes it past 2 overlay screens, and then force closes the app. This has happened twice now. Don't want to start another game just to lose a 3rd save when this battery hungry game inevitably drains my phone again.

I had a very similar situation. I was able to start up the app and the loading screen went as expected, but when my vault loaded some of the animations were working then it froze then crashed and sent me back to my phone's home screen. Happens every time I try to play the game. I am hoping there is a fix to this. I do not want to reinstall and lose my $20.00 purchase and lunchboxes and items I grabbed from them. Any ideas or fixes?

+1 for this topic.

I have the same problem. Game worked fine and after some time I can't even launch it as it crashed on loading screen.

I did what is mentioned in FAQ (reboot your smartphone) but still the same.

I just made an account in order to comment here.

I am using an iPhone 5S, completely up to date (iOS 8.4.1). The app boots up the loading screen (which simply says "Fallout Shelter"), stays there for ~2 seconds, then crashes. This happens literally every single time. I am not running other apps, and available storage is decent enough (6.3 GB out of 27 GB total). It has been doing this since late June, and the recent update (v1.1) has not made any impact.

Before this would happen, I had quite a few dwellers. I think it was around 140 (I could be wrong; like I said, it's been since late June since I've been able to play). This large dweller size may have been the original cause of the problem. However, the recent update (v1.1) states: "Vaults of all shapes and sizes should now run more smoothly." Thus, the problem should be resolved, but it isn't.

I would like to know from Bethesda whether deleting save data and reinstalling the app will solve this problem. If so, then I will swallow my pride, delete my old Vault, and start anew. But I don't want to do this unless I know for sure that it would solve the problem.

I've had this problem and I think it's caused by the program closing while the game is saving (my guess is that it autosaves periodically, though it doesn't seem to indicate when like some games do). This would include the battery running out or force exiting the game. The end result is that the save file seems to be essentially non-existent, it's just an empty file. I don't think there's any way to recover it. I'll always leave the game by using the button in settings to go to the main menu after this happened to me. I now back my save up every so often to another location on the phone, just in case. If you've paid money for things, I don't know what Bethesda's policy on that is. Hopefully they'll at least patch the game so that it creates its own backup of the previous save before writing the new one over it.

I fixed mine by deleting the save file. But I hadn't invested any money or much time in the game at that stage.

This is mostly speculation on my part, but I hope it helps.

Galaxy S3

Game crashes on loading screen every time. Not going to reinstall and lose my purchases or my progress. That is just unacceptable, why is there no official statement yet??

I'm having trouble to start the game on my Android phone. It was working fine for the first day, but now everytime I try to load the game, it will open, start loading, crash and show my main apps screen. My phone is a Moto G. I tried rebooting and restarting the game many times. I even deleted some other apps thinking it would be a memory problem. I won't reinstall the game, but wait for a patch to fix it. I hope Bethesda helps us -.- please

Yup, same since yesterday. Only solution seems to be to reinstall it, wiping your save and your purchases. Seems to be no statement by Beth yet.
