Fallout 1 & 2 Should they be remade?

Post » Fri Dec 02, 2011 4:44 am

Apologies if I'm covering old ground here, I'm obiviously not aware of it.

My question is this;

Should Fallout 1 & 2 be remade and/or updated in to the gaming style of Fallout 3? So people who don't use a PC for gaming can enjoy FO 1 & 2.
Or shouldn't they be touched at all?

I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

Finally got that Poll up there.

The collective nerdrage from certain websites if Fallout 1 and 2 were to be remade in the image of Fallout 3, would probably make the whole universe explode.

That bad eh? The fans of these games are seriously protective and defensive of them thats for sure. But I still think a remake for people who can't play them or haven't played them would be a good idea.

Yup, I don't really see an issue with it either.

Wouldn't it be like a new game anyway? If styled like FO3, I saw screenshots of the older games and it could nearly be passable as new. For example Capcom remade, updated and added to Resident Evil for the Gamecube, same old game, looked new, felt new. Just think better graphics.

i wouldnt mind, but let them stay as they are. they are perfect that way, only if it was a graphic update.

Sounds fair to me, graphics update definitely, but the simple fact is I can't play them at all, 1. this PC couldn't handle it. 2. My parents would go balistic for hogging their computer. 3. I want it on my 360. 4. Can't really afford a new PC just yet.

There are those that would un-make Fallout 3 back into the image of Fallout 1 and 2 ... and implode the whole Fallout universe.

Theres another option, we the fans, if the majority worked together to remake the first Fallout, in F3 engine would be nice. Let the studious make new content like new vegas. If we give small tasks to everyone, it would be easier for everyone, and much faster. But we would have to revamp alot of things, like the Vats system.

Consider this. Your computer is capable of posting on these forums. Ergo, it's also capable of playing the original Fallout games :P

Fair Point, but I've just moved back from England and I'm staying with my parents in the meantime, theres no way I could put a serious amount of gaming time into it, although I can type on forums, I usually do a bit, leave for a while then come back later do a bit more, I like putting serious time into my gaming. They've already had a go at me about electric bill etc etc and its their house, I'm a guest for a while, they make the law, otherwise I'd at least try FO 1 & 2 plus I'm not logged in all the time only a bit here and a bit there. :( Plus I want better graphics.

No.

Why would they want to waste time remaking a game that's already fine?

Yeah if you like that kinda thing, from what I've seen, which isn't lots thats for sure, it looks a bit naff, a bit like Gauntlet from a 45 degree angle, my point is that I'd like to see them in the style of Fallout 3. Don't take it the wrong way, but I prefer switching from First person perspec. (in combat) to close up 3rd person perspective when I'm not in combat. I don't know can u do that with Fallout 1 & 2????

not sure how to delete but ill just do this.??? but the games were great even though i never entirely knew what to do when i played them but to just run around an fight something until i die. those were great times an a great game. but ill stay with the fact that classics should never be changed.

My answer is no. The classic should remain in the state that they are in. Remaking them is basically a waste of time compare to the other project the companys is working on. The experience and the style for the game would not be the same either if remade into a different format. Just play it the way it is and see how it goes. And in today standard, any computer should able to run Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Lastly, graphic isn't everything.

Thanx for that dude :) And they don't seem to like people linking to other sites. But when I say this PC is useless, I mean it is useless, just going to one of those links, opening up another window, the explorer crashed. Honestly its really crap! In relation to graphics, it is about graphics for me mostly, I used to love playing DOOM (PS1) but I wouldn't play it now, its so dated, not to say FO 1 & 2 are but the graphics the 360 and PS3 offer I'd rather have them and PC may have better graphics but my PC can't handle anything substantial at all, I love the Resident Evil games but I wouldn't play the PS1 version of RE only the Gamecube remake because it has better graphics than the original PS1 verson. I suppose what I'm trying to say is, I want it for my xbox 360. Its a classic for you and others because you have played them, FO 3 is a classic for me because I 've played it and loved it, but I haven't played the others so they are not classics to me.

And will someone pls answer my question about Col. Autumns Laser Pistol in the DLC section lol

Actually, the link that was presented earlier is against the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=724862 and the EULA.

Anyways, ya can't really just let the graphic in in ya way of trying the game out. If ya able to play it in a isometric style, turn-based RPG, then this game would be quite interesting and I would recommend ya trying it out. The experience would not really be the same if transfer to a different format otherwise. Ya PC-wise, did ya take care ya PV with a virus scanner or what not to prevent some problems?

I'd love to try them at some point, but even my Mum hates this PC because its so useless (and thats sayin something) and we have that Kaspersky Internet Security on, don't really know if its any good or that I should even mention its name. Sorry! I'm PC wiser than some people I know but not enuff to warrant an expert rating, I can take it apart and stuff, change this that and the other but software is outta my range and the only thing to do is to get a new computer but that won't be happening for a while. If I was still living in England I coulda blagged a new PC for nothing but not over here! Just moved back at Christmas having lived in England since 1997. I've a games console from Microsoft why can't I play PC games anyway, its just a con at the end of the day. I should in essence be able to but I can't.

If anything, I would like to see Fallout 3 remade in the style of Fallout 1/2. Also, it would be great to see Van Buren released(in the state that it was in, when it was canceled).

Am I the only one who thinks the worlds of Fallout 1 and 2 were created with their combat, SPECIAL system, and entire artistic direction in mind? Remaking the games wouldn't do them justice - it would be like if somebody wanted to experience Donkey Kong but only played shooter games, so someone remade it as such.

If anyone is keen on trying these great classics, you are encouraged to take them with a grain of salt and adapt to their system of play. Those who beg for a remake of FO1/2...have no indication of true desire to experience FO1/2...at least, not properly - not in their purest, truest, original incarnations.

I don't want it to be remade because they will change it alot. They will take out the six, drugs and violence ie being able to kill kids. They will mess with the canon. It will be like when george lucas remade star wars and added all the stuff that are from the new star wars. Now take that and picture the old star war being remade by mel brooks not Lucas. It will be a mess if they did it.

Yea I know my anology is crappy but it I think the my point is made :P

I agree with the Frog :P "If anyone is keen on trying these great classics, you are encouraged to take them with a grain of salt and adapt to their system of play.
