fallout as a TV show

It would only work on AMC, and it might work on syfy if they got serious with storylines and acting.

ok yeah i see what your saying there but the only problem i have with them making a new story is them compleatly [censored] every thing up. like say they make a show called fallout and then your like [censored] yes i have to watch this only ti find out that it has nothing to do with the game except for it being set in a post apocalyptic world. now i'm not saying that thats gonna be what they would do just using that as an extream. but yeah imo if they did make it into a show with a new story they would have to at least have some parts of it talking about stuff that happened in the games like some thing about the master or the enclave or even the the vault dweller or some thing like that.

things i think they should deff put in there at least once
an encounter with a death claw
ghouls maybe some feral ghouls
stuff like jet and stimpacks
vaults of course
nuka cola of course
maybe some of the factions l(ex..) talon company or somthing like that
tribles and tribes
oh and ron perlman deffenetly

this is just IMO tho but feel free to add or take away from my list of things that should deff be in a fallout tv show

MA: Billy, did you not take your roadway like you promised?

..

Billy: Hey Ma, I gots you a pretty Necklace... Here, let me put it on you...

The Lord of the Rings books and movies are actually very different.

But do they have really drastic changes like... like Boromir lives? Like Arwen dies? Basically they just changed some "who said/did what" and a few personality changes of the characters. Sure the film left out loads of other details and such, the films are long as [censored] already, so of course they were restricted. Had it been a series they could have crammed loads of left-out details in (they kind of did in the extended versions, making the whole triology about 11 hours to watch), just like The Walking Dead does. As I said, I am for minor changes and adding new material like Shane living for as long as he did
Spoiler
(but still died in almost the same way as in the graphic novels)
or adding a character like Daryl or killing off Sophia (although saddened me a bit, poor girl) but
Spoiler
killing Dale, one of the main characters that will be with the survivor group for, IIRC, 1-2 years! Now he dies in the same summer as the outbreak occured. And a stupid death it was, in the graphic novel it was much better, he getting bit and then walk out in the woods just for cannibals to catch him and eat his leg, whereupon he shows his bite mark and tell them they've eaten tainted meat, then Rick and crew arrives and brutally slaughter the cannibals and save Dale, for him to die rather painlessly in a bed among people he love.

I'd prefer a wasteland apocalypse show, but not a fallout one.

That way I can have fun experiencing the wasteland, but not get angry like many other fans when they do something drastically different from the games.

A show wouldn't be Fallout, anything they tried to make that work would end miserably.

I actually think this could work..
I think that FO:NV, like longknife, stated would work best for background reasons..
Stationwise I think it should be a premium cable show (contentwise), like HBO.
And I think, if you wanted to do the franchise justice, there should be a mix between narrative and stand-allone lore episoded...
(Vault Centric ones.. for example..)
So yeh overall I could see it work and happen.... The real question though is would an idea work.... On paper it looks veasible... in practice... well I have my doubts..
The setting could translate well, but things like securitons, supermutants, ghouls etc... they have to be very well established if one would accept the premise as a whole.
One has the disadvantage that a series should work for everyone, including people who never played the game.. and some aspects of the FO universe work better in games than they would in TV or in other established fiction..

If it was on HBO it would have to have a gay love scene.

I'm not, but all the HBO shows nowadays must have to write them into the plots

I would like a TV show set in the Fallout Universe but maybe subtle difference's. It couldn't follow the Fallout universe without a LOT of CG.

i think it could waork out really good i mean look how good nuka break turned out they did good with the ghouls to. i mean well if it were on TV like AMC or HBO or even STARS the make up would be 10 times better than they could do on Nuka Break. even more so with AMC i ean look at the make up special effect on the walking dead thous were [censored] amazing for cable TV. even the gun fights were good so all in all i could see them doing a good job on stuff like special effect/ make up, gun fights, and the setting.

but story i'm not so sure on i mean yeah if they had the right people do it like say the guy who made Nuka Break he made a pretty good fallout story with out [censored] up the lore while adding in stuff like ghouls, NCR veteran ranger, the fatman and the laser rifle, jet, talking about the legion, stimpacks, slave collars, vault suits, and of course Nuka Cola, the shishkabob, rad roachs, the pipboy, andprobably some other stuff but i can't think of it right now but yeah. i actually wish that they could get the money to put it on TV and make each episode like an hour long or at the least a half hour rath it be an hour tho.

but yeah so far nuka break is the closest thing we're probably ever gonna get to an actually TV show

what are all you guy's thoughts on nuka break and what are thoughts on it being made into a full length TV show or not being made into one i would like to know

Problem is it is a niche thing aimed at people who know the games (more specifically FO 3 and NV)... no way is studio gonna take the money and go for it.
The problem with many many many game to film/tv adaptations is twoways:
While the premise is nearly always golden.. there are two things I, as a potential filmmaker, can never recreate...
1. I can never copy your experience. You are the character... in other words... The way in which you view the world as the PC can never be reinacted in a satisfying manner for everyone who ever played the game.
2. Lots of plots are tied directly (aware or unaware) to the limitations of gaming mechanics. We are not aware of them (mostly) because we play a .... game..
Suspension of disbelief is a lot harder in some situations where you would translate certain elements to live-action.

In the case of FO there is also the question of tone... should be an all out sci-fi show.. with monsters of the week. Should be it a thoughtful expose about life after the bombs in an alternative timeline (hell even that is going to be a problem to explain to the casual viewer), should be satire... etc. etc..
Like I stated before: FO is a great franchise which works brilliantly in games.... and a TV series looks both possible and great on paper.. In practice though the amount of exposition etc.. would probably hinder it to take off.

well like i said if they ever did make it into a tv show they could go the rought of nuka break cause 1 its a compleatly different and original story that really doesn't have any thing to do with the games storys them selfs but is set in the new vegas area and has a lot of things from the fallout universe that go perfectly together and don't ruin the lore at all well at least in view it dosen't ruin any lore

but i do understand what your saying tho thorgal

It'd be great if done right, like The Walking Dead.

I have a somewhat biased opinion but I don't like the idea of Fallout becoming a TV show at all.

Agreed keep it in the game.
