Fallout 3 or Skyrim? : V - Skyrim

No contest for me, Skyrim destroys Fallout in every single way. I mean it's like asking me if I'd rather take a road trip on one roller skate or an SUV.

I like both games a lot, but prefer TES - I was more excited for Skyrim than I will be for FO4, but I will still be itching to play FO4 when the time comes.

FO3 is a great game with lots of excellent exploration opportunity (which I really like about it), but it's not a Fallout game it's a Bethesda game if that makes any sense, I am sure some will understand what I am trying to say! New Vegas was more Fallout than FO3 and is a great game in a different way.

Too early to tell for me - I am only 30 hours into Skyrim.

I loved the story in FO3 and could not get into New Vegas at all. Some of the side quests in FO3 were plain silly, though, and so far Skyrim is a bit better there.

I created another thread last week saying that Skyrim was like FO3 with Elves - which is not really a bad thing.

Enjoying Skyrim now....we shall see how I feel another 100 hours in.

Haha no...Skyrim is a million times better then Fallout 3 and new vegas,BUT I also love the fallout games.

If we're comparing the two series, Elder Scrolls all the way, though with Fallout it's still pretty close. Between the two games? Skyrim, it's just more satisfying for me as a whole. FO3 while great, I only felt compelled to make one character, and just do everything on that one playthrough.

That's probably because Obsidian who made NV was made of developers who formerly worked for interplay/Black Isle Studio, the company that originally made the fallout games and thus some of the people that made the original fallout games were people who also worked on New Vegas, as such it's probably got a more similar focus in it's design to the previous games then FO3 did. Also New Vegas was based on the idea of the Original Fallout 3 before the IP was sold to Bethesda.

I can think of one single aspect of Fallout that I like better than Skyrim, not a single one. I traded it in for Skyrim and will never play again. I'd rather play borderlands anyway, ouch!

I prefer the Fallout series to the Elder Scrolls series, but FO3 isn't better than Skyrim.

I agree, cant wait for FO4

but i do enjoy TES too

For me there is no comparison: Sci Fi Vs. Fantasy. You're always going to have bias one way or the other. I LOVE fantasy, and I'm not big on sci fi, so Skyrim is a no-brainer for me.

FO3 imo, is way better in many aspects which define rpgs, than Skyrim. And a note: I prefer medieval setting rpgs, rather than post-apocalyptic.
I would definitely choose FO3 over Skyrim any day. I actually went back to playing FO3 and FNV and happily re-exploring the Mojave atm.

To this day I have yet to finish New Vegas. Something about that game prevented me from finishing it. It probably had something to do with the "Country" theme as I hate anything country... lol

Fallout 3 was absolutely stunning IMO but so too is Skyrim.
I too am yet to complete FONV, and TBH, don't think I ever will, it just did not do it for me.

I'll play any TES game over a fallout game any day.

That said, i do like the fallout games, i just love TES a lot more.

So Skyrim is the more "brilliant" game for me.

So after all the hype I got from last you I finnaly decited to by a Bethesda game at release. Bought Skyrim and playd the main-quest and are know exploring the world. Its a great game but as many people, I am still dissapointed about it. It just doesnt feel like Bethesda was innovative enough or brought enough ideas in the game.

So my question is; Do you think Fallout 3 was more brilliant? When it came out, there was literaly no other game like it (exept for ealier FO games). The world, the atmosphere, even the exploring part were alot better and very location had a little story to it. Nothing in that game felt like "filler content" that I sometimes get with Skyrim. It just feels like Fallout 3 was more thought through by Bethesda.

So what do you think Is Fallout 3 better than Skyrim?

Fallout 3 and Skyrim are on a similar level for me; New Vegas edges ahead of them both though imo.

I like both games and I will probably play them for many years to come. They don't compete with each other imo, different worlds, different motifs, different gameplay mechanics, original and open worlds to explore, different type of feel to them. Both have almost unlimited replay ability, especially Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim, my two favorite games.

Im glad finals will be over in two days because I will have a whole month to finally explore Skyrim without stress on my back.

I don't like games with guns. I also didn't like the bleak, wasteland atmosphere of Fallout3. I also thought Fallout's animations looked awful in 3rd-person. Skyrim is better all around, in my book. It's not even a close race.

Skyrim by far.

Not taking anything away from Fallout 3. It's a great game, one of my top 4 games of all time. But it's no Skyrim.
