Fallout Sold? WTF?! : Fallout: New Vegas

I just read a tweet with a link to a Duck and Cover article about Bethesda selling the Fallout franchise to Obsidian. Is this real? If so, WHY?? I am really disappointed by this change of events! I am sure that I am going to take a load of crap for this posting but I am just dumbstruck that Beth sold off Fallout!

They have not sold the franchise to Obsidian at least as far as I am aware, they are however letting Obsidian develop New Vegas which is something completely different.

I thought about the "April Fools" deal after I posted the original thread. However, the original D&C article was posted on 3/31 (http://www.duckandcover.cx/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23876). It may still be a prank but the article seems very convincing. I would appreciate a comment from someone at Bethesda (Gstaff perhaps?) on the validity of this article.

I'm not Gstaff, but I can say that after Beth paid such a ton of money on the franchise, then had such a huge success with FO3, they aren't going to sell it away. You don't sell a prize race horse before the Kentucky derby unless you're literally starving to death. Beth isn't starving to death.

If you were to look at http://www.duckandcover.cx/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23876 on that article you would see that even though it was posted on 3/31, the person who wrote it wasn't even trying to pretend it wasn't meant to be an April Fool's joke.

But, while a pretty funny and well written April Fool's article, it's not like it would ever, ever happen. The Fallout license is a huge money maker for Bethesda, they wouldn't just sell it unless they absolutely had to.

Yeah, for us old ass Fallout Fans our "wtf" moment was when we found out King of Creation was [censored]ting us after reading beyond the headline. Hopes and dreams dashed yet again...
