Fallout 4 Speculation, Ideas and Suggestions # 258

Post » Fri May 29, 2015 12:30 pm

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion, rumors and speculation in one place.
This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4.

We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us may express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.
This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

I want as much crazy new lore as possible. I really hope we don't get another Fallout 3 in terms of lore inspiration, just being a holding pattern or some type of reboot. All of the lore outside the Capital Wasteland was great - just need to focus on that instead of the old and tired Enclave and BoS.

@Undecafindeed: The Institution? You can't be serious. I agree with Gizmo, androids fit the lore. And I agree with AwesomePossum, think about what was possible in the [censored] pre-war era already.

I have written entire chapters on how to properly do androids, but you obviously didn't bother. I even got props from evlbastrd which I'm very proud of.

I agree, but I don't know if I agree with "crazy".

Maybe not "crazy", maybe more as high imagination as possible. Bethesda has written a lot of neat stuff over the years, especially in TES where there is some really weird stuff just lurking under the surface. Its just that Fallout 3 had too much of things that have already happened and were written by someone else in the first place. Things like The Insitute, The Pitt, and the rest of the east coast are what I think should have been the focus. If there is old factions again, it should take on a different form. If there is Enclave, it should take the form of something like a neo-enclave movement that is trying to subvert society from within. If there is BoS, they could have turned into a giant empire stretching across much of the land, using the superior tech they've gathered to divide and conquer. If Fallout turns into the same thing over and over again - Power armoured good guys shooting black power armoured baddies with super mutants crawling around the edges, I don't think id keep coming back.

But then, TES has proven that Bethesda can write originality, I just think that they were heavily misguided on some of the lore with Fallout 3. Its also present in New Vegas to a lesser degree, the game constantly reminds you that its a -Fallout Game- with heavy handed references to past events. The same things happens in TES to a much lesser degree with a lot of things being lifted from previous games for the sole reason that it was a previous game that is fondly remembered.

When E3 comes and we (hopefully) see Fallout 4, I am pretty optimistic that what we see is going to be amazing. If it's "Fallout 3: 2" ill be pretty dissapointed, same with it being "New Vegas: 2". I hope for as much new stuff as possible, from mechanics to lore and everything inbetween.

Yeah, yeah. The Institute - The Institution... Same difference, who gives a [censored]? I'm sure you understood what was meant. In any case, as Bethesda has said (Emil I think it was): "It's Fallout, so basically anything goes." Perhaps we do get a wild variety of different synthetics and stuffies to check up on.

Knock yourself out with more android chapters -- I've a habit to jump past specified story and writing related stuff (outside mechanical things like branching and such) as that's the least likely thing for a dev to pick up on (adapting to fan fic), so yeah, I've missed out on that stuff.
