Fallout 4 Speculation, Ideas and Suggestions # 259

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion, rumors and speculation in one place.
This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4.

We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us may express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.
This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

Nice touch!

How fast do these threads usually fill up with the new announcements. I'm actually surprised it's going so slow.

inb4 Human vs. Android war that we'll all groan about cause that's a terrible cliché plot.

I'll have to remember to keep my expectations in check, I got overhyped for Skyrim, not making that mistake again. :D

Edited= At least that's a better plot then Fallout 3. :D

It's just a canard at this point, if it comes to fruition that'll be different...

I fully expect this game to not meet expectation, there has simply been too much hype for a protracted period of time.

After so much hype for New Vegas after the knockout blow of Fallout 3 it completely lived up to the hype for me. Same with Skyrim after New Vegas. I don't expect Fallout 4 after Skyrim to be any different.

Wonder if they learned anything from Obsidian's development of FONV or CD Projekt's works on the Witcher series.

I'm expecting more a "MIT built these things for slaves and then they evolved emotions and then they went rogue and then they started to act on revenge and then you get to choose to be an eevile racism bigot or a shiny knight of virtue" kinda plot. All this of course when and if you have time from killing stuff and picking up junk in the wasteland and it's X hundred handmade dungeons.

But seriously... yours might just be what it comes down to. At least I hope they get a bit more creative with the premise and the structure if that's what it'll be.

Well, I hope they die down on the Radiant questing. Having it as a small thing to do on the side when you're done with all the cool stuff, as a cool after end-game thing would be nice. But using it as a primary function in your quests just makes them less relatable and makes the quest less personal. Which I really don't like. More interesting quests ala Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3 NV please.

This a thousand times.. The radiant questing has been given its chance so many times that I just don't want to try it anymore. I like written quests and they will never go old fashioned!

I assume you mix up "radiant quests" with "radiant ai". Radiant quests where only used in Skyrim to date ...

....and yes I don't like them too. It simply shows to easily that I am fooled by an automatic system.

Nothing special he always was part of the american tv test pattern.

You have to realize that you compose a very small denomination of people that hasn't been dissapointed by one of those games.

I'm not trying to refute your own visceral feeling or opinions but it's not one that can be even tremulously generalized to the community as a whole.

In regards to the teaser page:

Some cool things about the page. The source code has

PA system failure has occured.
Shutdown of the Masterbrain has been authorized and all sensitive materials have been removed for security purposes.
Please attempt re-access. Have a pleasant day.

Written in it. One of the files is called 57601643.institute.js

To me, this all supports a Commonwealth location.

I'd hope they would at least learn something from the former, as New Vegas was probably the closest you'll ever get to a Fallout game as a first person RPG in this day and age, but probably not. I have no doubts they'll learn from the last game that made them a crap ton of money, and that's Skyrim.

Some new information here. One thing that is interesting is a bunch of pre order buttons for the new consoles and PC aswell as the 360/PS3. Which is...Kinda dissapointing.

One day we'll be free of hardware made a decade ago. One day. Maybe they'll pull a Morrowind where the console versions are horribly gimped, but I really can't see that happening.

if BGS hasn't learned from Fallout New Vegas there will be an exodus from the series by a large sect of the fan base and I'll be leading the exodus.

Sadly this, of the diverging design philosophies it's difficult to see BGS eschew the path of simplification that garnered so much money and praise with Skyrim :sadvaultboy:

Well, I was dissapointed by Oblivion back in the day, but things have improved a lot since then. I just stopped buying Bethesda games as a whole after Oblivion, it was only the massive positive reaction to Fallout 3 from critics and fans alike that made me give it another chance, and it blew me away.

New Vegas made them a crap ton of money too. 6 million copies is something that a lot of game companies can only dream about.

This is in my opinion the first source of credible information to substantiate the Boston speculation.

6 million copies would be deemed as a relative failure for Fallout 4, 20 million plus wouldn't.

What game are they most likely to mimic Skyrim or New Vegas?

Fallout 4 would be a sequel to both. Ive yet to see convincing evidence that New Vegas is somehow a completely different beast than Skyrim or Fallout 3. If you can show me that the base gameplay represents something different than wandering and questing in a open world full of freedom, then maybe ill be open to the idea.

Back about a year or so ago with the hoax site that came up, we were replacing this thread about every day, sometimes twice a day But that was people trying to figure out who was behind it and what it all meant. Today, we pretty much know who is behind it, and what it means. We are just waiting until we have something to discuss, like the location or the major factions or the like. Then again, we may not get much of any details this early on.

Of course they're going to take what they learned from Skyrim. But good developers learn from everything. The ideal situation would be they learn from everything they've done and seen, good or bad.

At this point, its all discussion. We haven't even seen a teaser, It could be more New Vegas than anything, or it could just be a Skyrim reskin. We'll see. I'm betting they take a bit of both.
