Fallout 4 Speculation, Ideas and Suggestions # 262

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:48 am

Smoother? How? most shooters have thing thing called aim assist which I assume Is missing from FO... Those things as far as I've noticed are on by default so you have a easier time aiming. Personally I'm horrible with aiming in console games, but give me a PC version and I can do just fine(My mouse is my friend).

I think he means the mistake of not letting us continue.

Sooo

They better not make the mistake like last time(,) and let us continue to freely roam after the main story line.

I think it would make more sense now? Grammar sometimes helps...

@The Good DoctorWhether or not they did change in that game isn't what I am getting at. The entire theme for them in that game was that they could not continue on in the same manner, and even if reluctantly, some see this within their organization.

Last time they made the mistake of ending the game after the main storyline, and had to undo the mistake with the Broken Steel DLC.

Its hard to explain. Go play Fallout 3 or NV with a controller and then pick up Destiny or COD or any other FPS game of the same genre. The FPS mechanics in Fallout are light years behind so much that it almost forces you to use VATS in some cases. If they can mimic Desitny's FPS mechincs I'll be so happy. IMO Destiny did that perfectly . Aim assist would be perfect for a game like Fallout. More so for the console players.

I know I'm comparing an older game to a new game and in no way am I comparing the games themselves as they are completely different. They just share the FPS mechanics.

Incidentally, one of the senior designers for Destiny was hired by Bethesda Game Studios a few months ago... and I don't think any of the complaints about Destiny were about how it's shooting felt.

I actually agree with Eat A Cook Cat. Broken Steel svcked because it tore apart an average-decent ending and turned it into a horrible and unnecessary one.

For those of you wondering if they will port this to 360 and ps3, it looks like they wont (thankfully).

I find that the opposite happened, it turned an incredibly bad ending into a decent one where you could actually see the effects of your actions being to play out instead of taking the often used cop-out of not even trying and just slapping everything into a completely meaningless final cutscene.

Admittedly, I haven't read this thread thoroughly yet, so I don't know if this has been said before yet, but, uh ... About the voiced protagonist, I don't think the PC will be voiced or chosen for you, the guy with Dogmeat (?) in the trailer might not even be the main character. It may be the Lone Wanderer being part of the sequel, or just some random wasteland guy who happens to have have vault gear.

Wow I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I actually loved Destiny and to hear that Bethesda picked up a Bungie employee really gets my hopes up.

I nearly cried when the dog looked in the crib. OMG! I am so hyped. My husband commented on not seeing me for a while when the game is released.

As a general rule: If I can help it don't use a controller in a shooter.

As for how the feel is... fallout is not a "Shooter" game or even a FPS in that regard since you can go to 3rd person too. guns is just a weapon from it's small variety. There are also melee and "throwable" weapons like spears. Spear throwing in a CoD style gameplay... personally I can't see it. Now things like sprinting could be added and MAYBE cover mechanics akin to GTA V. But I'm guessing that will bring it self it's own issues(for modding as well)

FO4 is in Boston? that Paul Revere statue in the trailer and it's in Boston in real life or is it a coincidence?

Its Boston, there's enough real world landmarks in the trailer to confirm it.

For some reason the Quote button is not working for me.

To AwsomePossum: I greatly prefer a game that lets me continue to play after the main story has been completed, and I also agree that Broken Steel DLC was a good repair to that mistake they made. Broken Steel allowed you to continue to wander the waste and see the effects of your actions, granted they could have done more with it.

The trailer shows a ton of monuments that are found in Boston. It's pretty much a given at this point.

The only thing about the setting I'm mad about is that I bet my best friend it would be anywhere other than Boston, and now I owe him beer.

I agree. Fallout isn't meant to be focused around combat and gun mechanics, especially since the extent of shooting in the original titles was point-and-click and cycling between firing modes. I would really hate for Bethesda to adopt CoD style combat, it would take away from the experience IMO.

The ending slides are not meaningless. And they show the events that can't possibly be played out in the game. Fallout 3 didn't show the effects of our choices. It removed them altogether. With the slides, the wasteland is changed in a massive way. Without them, we see that nothing happens at all. Instead of purifying the river and saving the Capital wasteland, we purify a basin and send out bottles water. Instead of turning it into a graveyard with the poison, a handful of people get sick and no one cares at all. It also made the entire sacrifice angle moot.

It made the entire storyline feel pointless. The best stories have a beginning, middle, and end, and the ending leaves major impacts on the future. BS removed the ending and all of its impact.

But I'll stop there because this ain't the thread for discussing that. I'm just saying, I'd hate to get another non-ending. Every other Fallout had the slides and they were great for it. But I know I'm probably not going to get what I want on this.
