Fallout 5 - Speculation, Ideas, Suggestions

Post » Tue Oct 20, 2015 12:17 pm

I had a dream last night that I just picked up my copy of Fallout 4; I went online to check my email and there was an announcement for a new Fallout game by Obsidian coming 1 year after Fallout 4!

I was so excited because not only did I have Fallout 4 and the dlc coming, but a new game for after I finished.

What do you guys think is the probability they do a New Vegas like spinoff of Fallout 4 and release in the next few years?

My guess is 50%!

After it was properly patched (eventually), I really enjoyed Fonv, as did most people I spoke to about it. I think they did a great job of it.

Bring on Fallout New York.

man for fans of dev studio some of you behind the times in terms of news.

i have hard time believing they will touch rpg's in fallout/KOTOR kinda way for long time since they neck deep in developing Armoured Warfare a pvp/pve tank game

heres quote from one top devs there "One of the impulses for Obsidian to start working on Armored Warfare was the desire to branch out from the traditional 60 USD price range RPG's that they've been making in the past, another was the impulse to explore to free to play model" http://aw.my.com/us/news/general/developer-qa-richard-taylor-0

so yeah assuming the game doesn't get scrapped free to play developing takes years and years of attention i don't see Obsidian doing anything thing else FOR YEARS unless side projects like pillar's of eternity crownfunded stuff.

Fallout: New Vegas is my favorite Fallout game, and I'm a big fan of Obsidian. That said, I'd much rather see Obsidian focus on their own IP.

I really want an Alpha Protocol 2 more then a New Vegas 2.

I would love to see New Vegas 2 but who knows. I never was into FO until I was disappointed with Skyrim and finally decided to play New Vegas because my friend told me it was well written and had choice and consequence - and a hardcoe mode. I loved it, and with the mods, it's a whole new experience. Who knows, if there's a significant NV fanbase pushing Beth/Zenimax to release a new New Vegas, there might be something that could be done. If there's a lot of profit to be had with minimal hassle - and Obsidian free from other priorities - I don't see why they shouldn't make a new NV unless there's something in the water that we don't know about. The fact that Avellone is gone shouldn't hindered a new NV because NV was practically the baby of JSawyer.

I remember one Obsidian dev (one of the lead guys, but I don't know the company/the employees at all) said he'd love to work on another Fallout but they haven't heard anything from Bethesda about it. He could be lying, of course, but I doubt it.

Personally I'd love for it to happen as well. I thought New Vegas was a wonderful game.

I'd love to see obsidian make another game, NV was by far my favorite and imo best of the series.

Probably won't be called Fallout 5, not sure if Obsidian would want to, they might, and it would be great.

But if I remember correctly they're still working on more stuff for Pillars of Eternity.

It would be awesome if Chris Avellone and some other people who developed New Vegas and past games of the series joined Bethesda for the Fallout 4 DLC.

Awesome, but very, very unlikely.

I'd love to see another Fallout game by Obsidian. New Vegas was easily the better game between that and Fallout 3. They have way better writers than Bethesda.

To me it was decent. Not as good as fallout 3 but still had replay value. Mods made new vegas so much better. Try playing it with mods sometime.

I liked NV fine. I wouldn't mind Beth letting Obsidian taking another crack at it!

I'd love to see Obsidian do another West Coast themed FO after FO4. Though, I think Beth allowed them to do NV as a nod and throwing a bone their way, so Bethesda will probably not allow it...as they seem to not even acknowledge it exists in public statements.

Anyhoo, there was more great stuff brought into the FO universe's first person generation with NV, and I preferred it over FO3. Better story and companions, excellent DLCs that told their own story, more weapon types, weapon mods, ammo types, reloading, survival crafting with healing over time, crafting interfaces, more explosives and explosives crafting, hardcoe mode, a gun industry that manufactured weapons from old world schematics, Caravan, and more varied armor types to include Riot Gear and breathing masks.

I'm in the middle of another run through as we speak. Just don't think Bethesda will allow them to do it again...even though it's money in the bag. They own it now, for good or for ill and probably don't like competing visions within the franchise vying for supremacy.

But...I hope they have the long vision in mind, and realize that it's almost a freebie FO game to publish while they work on ES6.

Obsidian's writing is fine for quests and lore, but the world-building was lacking in New Vegas. The world was too static, there were no random encounters or emergent gameplay. They didn't capture the feeling of a Bethesda open world game, and if they were going to do another Fallout game, I would like to see some improvement there.

I don't expect it to happen, but who knows, they all (Bethesda and Obsidian) like money, and the game would pretty much sell itself, so nothing is impossible.

If Bethesda continue to switch back and forth between Elder Scrolls and Fallout, that means right now they are working on Elder Scrolls 6. Each Bethesda game is generally quite a big improvement over the previous one, due to the length of development. I'd rather have that great new experience of Fallout 5 in however many years it takes to do Elder Scrolls 6 and then Fallout 5, if they continue with that pattern now... instead of having basically a big mod of Fallout 4 with a different setting and story. That said, if Bethesda did allow another company to do a Fallout 4 "spin-off," I would probably play it.

I know MCA is great and all, but Feargus Urquhart, Josh Sawyer, and Tim Cain are more than capable of making a Fallout game.

I hope they get another shot. It helps the time in between Bethesda releases, we get to see what's cookin' on the west coast, and possibly get confirmation on some canon events from F4 and NV.

Whether or not Obsidian have the schedule to allow it, I think is the only concern, since they've said they be down to make another. Bethesda certainly doesn't have anything to lose in it, that's for sure.
