Fallout 4 Speculation Suggestions and Ideas #125

Post » Sat Jun 01, 2013 11:09 am

This topic is for ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4 so that we can keep all the discussion in one thread. At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.
This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

http://www.gamesas.com/user/15304-ccna/: Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included in a future Fallout game.

-Why should Karma be removed? I dont belive it should have as much of an impact as it does now, but removed?

-How does giving vendors more items, but making items more rare, makes sense? I'm not following what you mean, unless you are saying you want them to fill vendor's stocks with useless misc items that serve no purpose.

-Why? there is no reason for nodes....... seriously, the only reason nodes existed in the first place was because computers were too primitive to show a world in detail, we no longer have such limitations.

-Why does there need to be ending slides at all, any sufficiently well written game will TELL YOU the fate of the town via dialog/simple world changes. Literally everything that was said in New Vegas's endings was a repeat of stuff you had been told before.

-Why? even if you want the game to have ending slides, why not just play the ending slides and then let you continue on with the game? there is no reason to make it end unless the dev is unable to follow through with the consequences of the MQ, which just means ending a game is a crutch for lazy game design.

crap from last thread

-I never create 'evil' or 'good' characters that do things just cuz it fits an evil/good personality. Instead, I give my character motives, be they money, power, or whatever else, and I take action to satisfy those motives. I don't see things in black and white so I don't want the game telling me I did good or bad after every kill or steal. Besides, karma was utterly useless in NV besides a small part in the ending slides.

- Making items more rare in the world (including caps) and instead adding them to vendor inventories forces the player to actually accomplish something through quests instead of running around picking up random crap and selling it off. Plus it just seems more realistic that by the current time in the Fallout universe, everything would have been picked dry and people would be producing goods instead of scavenging.

- We don't have the power (especially on consoles) to store a 1:1 scale state on a disk. Nodes let us create larger worlds by taking out all the boring terrain in between and replacing it with random encounter areas like F1&F2.

-Its a staple of the series. I'm pretty sure there are tons of other Fallout fans on here (even those that like F3 more than NV) that really like the ending slides and don't want them removed.

-Obsidian had planned to have post ending play in NV, but there were just too many variables. If Bethesda can successfully create post ending gameplay that reflects all the choices you've made then more power to them.

I don't think Karma serves any real purpose. It's just there to be some sort of guide to people who actually care if their character is seen as good or evil to the great invisible computer gods.

Reputation System is the way to go. Do we need to remove Karma? I would say we don't need to, but I would like it gone because it has no real impact on the game and to many people act as if it should. That and the great invisible computer gods are really the game developers and we have to go by what they see as good and bad, and in a game with alot of complicated grey areas (that is if Fallout 4 will have any grey areas) Good and Bad can be complicated, a matter of opinion. What the mods might think is bad, we could see as good.

That's *my* line, bud :stare:

I'd think that both karma and reputation should be blind attributes that the player can't see, but notices through both the actions of others (reputation) and what the world throws at you (karma).
