wouldn't it normally just show "erro 404 page not found"?

I know the eastern seaboard gets nasty with deep snow. But, i still hold out hope that the climate has changed enough that any potential snowiness is a sludgy, rain/sleet type of affair.

Side note: The Skyrim comparisons are a no go in my book. We are talking a coniferous alpine environment vs a bare branched deciduous environment. I haven't consulted my farmers almanac, but I'm pretty sure winter has happened before Skyrim was developed.

Somebody broke the code on the site that said: "Nuclear winter is coming. Reserve your future home today." Then followed with a phone number that gave you the Tranquility Lane music, but apparently the number doesn't work anymore and is replaced with "PERMISSION DENIED BY OVERSEER (15334)"

I have all the reasons in the world to believe that it's gonna snow in Boston in the year 2299.

truth be told I'm starting to think all these offshoot sights are actually the hoax and people are messing with us by making them...

The thing is though that Fallout 3 had a hot desert not so far from Boston. What could make that possible though, is that there could have been some sort of event that caused a deep winter for many years. Maybe that's what the "survivor" part is referring too?

It's normal. People just like to be thematic and creative with their 404s.

Yeah I dont think ive seen that before. That 2247 date is interesting, since looking it up on Nukapedia it was the date of the formation of Caesars Legion. A legion that stretches all the way to Boston would be pretty damn terrifying.

Unlikely. It costs a lot of bandwidth and therefore money to keep thesurvivor2299.com since it started, considering the amount of traffic it has been getting recently. Unless you're a WEALTHY hoaxer with A LOT OF TIME ON YOUR HAND. I don't see why you would make something like that up.

a nuclear winter is a theoretical condition where after an atomic war all the dust that is thrown up into the sky blocks out the sun cooling the planet resulting in a winter. such an event would have lasted only a few months, effected the entire planet (not just Boston) and happened right after the bombs fell. unless the game were to be set right before/after the great war, nuclear winter conditions would have long since passed.

I think Fallout 4 should take place in Pennsylvania and use the town of Kittanning.

It is the usual 404 page. They just have a different 404 template instead of an ugly looking blank page. It's nothing special.

@jarmar

Also LLUB is BULL, the logo of the legion, and 2247 is the formation of the legion. This is interesting.

Reading the reddit thread it seems that there's a whole bunch of pages on the site now that have stuff like that on it.

Yeah this is the strongest point of it being real, IMO. Someone would have to be really rich to upkeep that site for this long and this hard.

sparsely vegetated. but i am not so sure it was a hot desert. it was in october, when the sun is getting farther from the northern hemisphere. But i do agree that there could be post nuke weather changes that caused the DC are to look as it did, even if they weren't explained.

Don't forget that in Fallout 3, fresh water begins flowing into the world, more and more everyday. Not to mention Oasis, which I believe the canon ending involves more or less plant life spreading into the wastes.

So presumably, if the game is set in 2299 (22 years after the events of Fallout 3), the atmosphere/weather in the area has gotten a 'repair' to an extent.

a desert is defined by how much the annual precipitation is. technically, the antarctic is a desert. being as it never rained even once in the capital wasteland it would indeed be classified as a desert :D

http://studio3music.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/hailstones.jpg :D It could be a nice (and annoying?) feature like Stalker's blowout; we would have to take cover when it rains rocks from the sky.

I don't know how the weather gonna be like.. But it's like 200 years after bombs dropped, so I would say it's more or less going to have normal circle. But it's definitely going to be a lot colder. Like, Ice Age cold. The snow will only accumulate and it doesn't go anywhere.
