Fallout 4 Speculation Suggestions and Ideas #167

Post » Wed Dec 04, 2013 4:22 pm

Not irrelevant? Why the double negative? Just say that they are relevant :D

And i'm pro-androids, as long as Bethesda doesn't screw up.
I guess, they may not make complete sense in the context of other Fallout titles, but I mean, is it so bad that they're trying to add something new? Instead of just reusing stuff from the older games, (and before you tell me that i'm not a 'true fallout fan', let me tell you this, i've played fallout 1 and 2 before fallout 3 was made, and i liked the first one the best, but i still loved 3 and 2 and NV, heck even Tactics! Though not Brotherhood of Steel... Even though i sort of liked the playable Ghoul character :stare:).

When it comes to traits, well I hope for more unique ones, than some like "You get -1 Perception without glasses, but a +1 with glasses", i mean yeah i guess, but that's kind of boring x

Im wondering how the assault rifles will be treated in Fallout 4. As much as I love Fallout 3, playing it recently I have been less and less happy with my Xuanlong. It's more of a hose of bullets that you point in the direction of something you want dead, so long as its not far away. I hate that, the assault rifles should be dependable all rounders. New Vegas did it right with the Service Rifle, even if it didn't have a lot of power behind it.

The case towards it being a hoax is flimsy at best compared to the points made towards it being legit. And even if it was a hoax, all speculation and suggestion discussion are relevant as people are expecting announcement soon anyways.

I like that wording "save scumming" because that's exactly what saving and loading to achieve victory is it's scummie and cheap

forget a 5 minute time out it should be "you fail you fail" the game should remember what locks and computers have been miss

hacked / picked no matter how far back you load the locks / computers should remain locked.

If blasting open locks is added the % of damaged loot should be determined by your explosives skill like 50 skill = 50% damaged

loot 80 skill = 20% damaged loot 99 skill = 1% damaged loot.

In order for this to work the leveling system would have to be changed so that 100% everything is impossible

making your choice to level explosives to 100 a big one.

What do you think about the visual aspect of Fallout 4? Since it's probably coming out only for Next Gen consoles and PC the graphics jump must be huge right?

Do you think it can surpass a modded Skyrim?

here are some screenshots i took from my modded skyrim (over 200 mods installed):

or maybe Battlefield 4?

What can we expect from a open world Bethesda game in 2014?

We have to keep in mind that the new consoles now have far more ram available (5GB on Xbox One and 5-6GB on PS4). They both have decent gpu's (alltough nothing compared to a GTX 780 or beyond).

Of course people on PC can always go to Fallout Nexus, download some texture packs, enb mods or something that adds extra realism and good visuals to the game,

but what do you guys think about on how vanilla Fallout 4 will look like? What can we expect?

In Fallou 3 vanilla most of the textures were 256x256 or 512x512 pixels big...so on PC you often downloaded a 2K or maybe even 4K texture pack in order to let the game look far more realistic/good/etc..

Will the new consoles still hold technology and visuals back or will we now get a huge graphical bump when it comes to open world games from Bethesda?

What can we expect....any opinions?

Spoiler

edit: sry if thats abit too OT but since this is a thread about speculating stuff about Fallout 4 i think it belongs here right?

And how would you accomplish that? Bethesda games, particularly running mods (which to me is the most important important feature of their games), are far too unstable to not allow the player to save as needed, and you can't retroactively alter every save in the game to edit in failures every time you fail a check. Sure, you could have the game remember something in a simple reload, but not if the player completely quits and reloads the game.

Besides, only you control whether or not you use saves like that. Why would you or anyone else care how others play on the copy of the game they payed for?

Fortunately, the modding community does allow me to tailor the game to my tastes. Many of the things that posters have advocated should be put into the game have long been in my games thanks to the modding community. And if Bethesda were crazy enough to implement some of the silly ideas presented in these forums there would soon be a mod that allowed us to turn the undesirable feature off.

In fact, if I had one request for Fallout 4 it would be to design as many systems as possible in such a way that they are highly malleable to modders. For example, in Oblivion and Fallout 3 mods that increased spawns were apparently easy to create. Changes in the spawn system made it more difficult in New Vegas and even more so in Skyrim (which actually required generating a dynamic patch with a skyproc patcher to accomplish).

And please, Bethesda, divorce scripts from game saves.

Registered yesterday.

Way too much effort put into all this for it to be a hoax.

That site you linked has very little work put into it.

And about the logo, is it possible that the variant isn't copyrighted? Or is absolutely everything in the games copyrighted?

I meant in general with the 2299 site has had way too much effort put into it. The countdown for the concept art finishes tommorow and this vault119 site opens up the same day, obviously connected.

IDK about that vault119 site. But it says "Coming 1/12/13". And seems to obvious to be legit. I mean the survivor2299 site is mysterious.

the vault119.com is most likely fake. the whois information is the same as www.vaultofthefuture.com. I'm really unconvinced those are the real deal.

http://who.is/whois/vault119.com http://who.is/whois/vaultofthefuture.com%22

See for yourself.

Both sites are quite low maintenance.

The survivor is also low maintenance but there has been much effort with daily updates up unitl Thanksgiving and the morse codings.

I believe Skyrim incorporated a feature that improved this a bit for lockpicking. The random seed appears to be adjusted each time you reload, so that if you attempt to pick the same lock again, the position is changed and you are no better off.

Considering how easy it was to pick locks, how easy it is to get lock picks and how you can pick any level of lock at the worst Lockpicking skill I wouldn't say that it is too much of an improvement when 'all' things are considered. Even readjusting the position of the lock isn't good enough IMO, was a mere nuisance at best and took at most 5 seconds to figure out where the new "unlock" part was. They need to ditch that lockpicking minigame that Fallout 3 started and either replace it with a better minigame (like the one in Oblivion) or change it to dicerolls with chance of jamming a lock being something to actually fear with a low Lockpicking skill.

I expect the texture resolutions will become twice as better if not more. The color pallete should be more vibrant than previously but I think mods will still be dominant when it comes to that. Also, IMO I think blur is a really dumb gimmick for game graphics. Your eyes create their own blur and you're just putting all those pretty textures and graphics to waste by slapping a blur filter over them. It's more unnecessary stress on the system only to make the game look more ugly.

I believe anything resembling trademarks is copyrighted and the Vault-Tec logo looks pretty familiar to me. I don't have a link but shortly after thesurvivor2299.com was made Bethesda began selling snowboards with the same exact black-and-white Vault Tec logo. That's a dead giveaway if you ask me.

Disclaimer: Mods don't generally have any more inside info than the rest of the community - I'm as in the dark about the survivor2299 stuff as everyone else.

That being said, I don't feel it's an official Bethesda thing. Something about that countdown website just feels... "off" to me.

Just seems very basic. I feel like if Bethesda were to create a website for viral marketing and impending announcements, you'd see some more texture effects, etc. I mean, just look at all the filters that were applied to the PipBoy UI in Fallout 3, or even the opening credits. It's not like them to just stick with basic text and a simplified icon, without some extra details and loving touches. I feel like were they to do something like that, you'd see a bit more work put into it.

(Though as I said - your guess is as good as mine... )

I think that Fallout 4 will visually blow us away. Bethesda always achieved that. Every single game they released in 2000 was a milestone in terms of open world. They sure know how to build worlds and fill them with content and live.

I'll do it as I did it with all previous Beth titles: first buy the game on console (XB1), play the heck out of it so i have experienced every possible "vanilla" content, after that there should be already deals on steam to get it cheaper so I'm ready to experience the game with plenty of awesome mods (my PC should have no problems running Fallout 4 on max details, even with some extra juicy mods).

Well lets review, the TM Fileing in Europe was tossed, so basicaly Thats fake.

looking at the base code you Dont see the usual spam of "tags" from Zenimax, Bethesda, Bethesda Softworks or there legal department, Never mind that the sight seems to have originated in poland, then transfered to a bargan third party Server, web hosting, and services provider.

To hell with it, I'm just going to jump all aboard the hype train. My prediction, the countdown tomorrow is going to launch the official site. Then 10 days later, boom, out of no where Bethesda launch a finished FO4 in time for Christmas. Now that would impress me.

I then take the rest of the year off work to play :fallout:.

You meant the hour it took to set up the site using freely available assets? There really isn't much effort here. Most of it is created by people on the receiving end.
