Fallout 4 Speculation Suggestions and Ideas #168

My reckoning is that the survivor 2299 is a hoax but Bethesda will announce Fallout 4 at the VGA Awards on December 7th

The Karma system definitely needs to be scrapped it's mostly useless and an annoyance.

The Reputation system from NV needs to remain and be taken a step further, you should have a rep with EVERY faction which can be altered dynamically in-game and it should determine how most NPC's react towards you.

:lightbulb:

not like, they were a merc group, just like riley's rangers. they did whatever they were paid to do.

I'm actually fine with the Karma system, I just wish it wouldn't say when or if you lose or gain Karma. And it wouldn't show how much Karma you have, instead you'd notice it from the way NPCs react to you and stuff.

I still say the "nuclear winter is coming" will just be some type of vaul-tec advertisemant. kind of like the billboards in FO3 with all the people lined up entering the vault with the mushroom cloud in the background. or the teaser "commercials" the did for FO3 for things like the fatman and such.

if it was kept it would definitely need fixed. the way it worked you could essentially play the game however you wanted, and just do a few minor things to realign your karma. and it didn't weigh the actions you took differently. you could blow up the entire settlement of megaton, but hand of some free water and your back to being a saint.

He was the star of the fast and furious. it's a bit of irony there that he died in a car crash.

Yunno, its not the system in place, its the way the people use that system. THey have to actually have NPCS do checks on Karma, make calls on quests, their rewards, all that jazz. Bethesda has to do something unprecedented!

They have to actually make your choices mean something!

I think a reputation system would be better with that, but I do agree that your choices need to have real consequences.

Which is what Reputation already does...

The Karma system itself is redundant and hopefully Beth will replace it.

Ditto. Karma is completely illogical in how it works. What, every NPC has a Magical 8-Ball they use to detect your cosmic alignment?

Yep. It should only measure (invisibly) your motivations that are reflected in the end (slides and narration) if it is implemented at all. People should not be able to see a halo over your head or horns on your forehead.

Edit - And touching a bit on that; the quest design should be made to support this by providing options (for specific character builds) to solve issues in different ways even when there is only one outcome; and more so when there are several. And none of this, obviously, should not be spoonfed to the player. Finding and figuring things out is a much more rewarding way to go than highlighting all the possibly ways for the player to simply pick and choose (or to game the system for an option, that was highlighted to exist, to be unlocked).

i just had a horrific thought, what if the countdown was a doomsday clock counting down to the nuclear holocaust and we are all just laughing about it thinking it is to do with Fallout?

I wonder what other sort of promotional things Bethesda has lined up for a new Fallout, if of course this Survivor thing is true. A lot of games are reaching out to include other forms of media to influence and augment their game. Will we get a PipBoy app to manage our inventory say on a tablet? Will we get to take pictures in whatever wasteland and share them?

A pip boy app would be very cool. Use it to apply meds in battle (can devices even do that kind of stuff yet?) or just review your stats while not playing.

I'm not sure if they could. Ideally, that's what it would be.

Bethesda, please don't give us collectibles with permanent stat/skill bonuses, it doesn't make any sense and it unbalances the game.

Agreed. Though if they do give out the weapon packs like they did in Vegas, I'll just not put the codes in. I was surprised at how much they change things.

This I have to agree with. I'm collecting all the bobbleheads this playthrough and I am becoming way to powerful.

There's a second counter called nuclear winter is coming that's called "art-count" general consensus is that when this countdown ends we might get some concept art whether it's real or not is another question.
