Only exception that comes to mind is New Vegas, but that was obviously handled differently for a variety of reasons.

About the nuclear winter countdown which is made fun of here as always with no information:

1. There was a pretty long gap in the game (the ARG) because of thanksgiving. The countdown simply was used to show when it starts again.

2. Yes a lot of people had higher expectations they wanted confirmation, art, videos,... but thats their expectation. It's not how such games (arg) work. Is it a hoax? Is it legit? I don't know but still I have fun . Don't let your expectations come in your way.

The spotted in Boston thing was never proven false.

Someone did go on Reddit eventually and make up a few tidbits about Fallout 4 and the potential Boston setting before admitting he was jerking everyone's chain. He had nothing to do with the initital reports of Bethesda being in Boston.

My favourite was The Pitt. I stayed up all night for that to appear on GFWL (do they still use that now?!). It ended up being re-uploaded because the textures wouldn't load.

It's nice to have hype like this and see that the series is still very much loved. If this turns out to be a hoax though...
